    My opinion is to have the lid on as long as there are holes somewhere along the side for air flow. The reason I say this is in case it rains, they’re not getting flooded or soaked from too much water.

    Thank you so much for this video. I have just started 2 worm bins. I got my red wrigglers from a 80 year old worm farmer and pumpkin farmer. I am not sure how many he gave me. I think it was over 1 pound. That’s why the 2 bins. You have answered so many questions I still had. Thank you.

    Great video. I started my bin January this year with 1000 worms and they are doing great. You answered several questions, I hope to share with children at schools next year. Thanks

    Won't the worms escape out the holes in the bottom of the bin?

    Thank you for the inspiring content! You have a wonderful gift for making the directions clear and easy to follow. We live in NV for now but hope to move to The Big Island in about 2 years where we'll have a better opportunity to live more sustainably. I'm wondering if you could tell me what size drill bit to use to make the holes in the tub. I'll keep tuning in for more great videos. Thanks again!

      I like Brothers Worm Farm in or around Austin for larger quantities as composting worms. Petco & Petsmart sell small quantities as food for other animals. These pet stores also sell red wigglers in small quantities.

    Great video! Could be edited a bit, but really helpful. It sounded like you used Shea Cloth for your bin blanket, correct? Could you provide a link to an example? I could not find this on google, which thinks instead I am looking for shade cloth...or is the latter what you use?

    I have the large 3 tier worm bin that I bought from you many years ago. Never had problems with it till a couple of years ago when we had to tent our house and had to move bin 5 ft away from house. Since then, no worms, so I decided to start small. Was looking at the 3 bucket method since it would be easier for me too carry and maintain. I got wine worms from a friend. I notice in another video you did that here in Hawai'i, they need to be hose down often. Can you explain about this? On the continent, n they keep cautioning about too much water. TYIA.

    I noticed that if I freeze the food scraps and thaw before I feed ,the food is broken down partially which is easier for the worms to feed.

    Could I substitute worms with nightcrawlers?

    • @Angel-vo8ol
      @Angel-vo8ol 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nightcrawlers are territorial so they don’t make good compost worms. Red wigglers are not territorial, which makes them great compost worms.

    I've heard you shouldn't use hose water? Rain water or water outside in a bucket in the sun to purification for 24 hours or so?.
