Honestly? This game was perfect for Mercury Steam's first outing with Metroid. An incredibly solid game (as linear as it was), kept the spirit of the original and did SOOOOOO much for Samus' character... without saying a word. The scene with the baby remains one of my favorite interactions in the series.

The auto aim is way too generous to palliate that, and the dodge mechanic is broken. It was way too easy and linear for my liking.
Those aren't rocks shaking, those are the statue's remnants. If you look carefully you'll see the hands/claws parts of the statue and the beak? with some of the orange pieces. I thought the same about them, but they're definitely from the statue.
Not gonna lie, the Diggernaut is my favorite boss fight in all of the 2D Metroid games. It's a combination of the music, the way it mixes things up, and all of the build up to this fight that just makes it work so well. I also died about 30 times before I figured out how to hurt it with the bombs and finally earned the Power Bomb!
Fun fact: if you use a power bomb on an omega metroid the plating on the core will disintegrate completely. It will grow back tho but it works every time
Yes, it makes the fight that much easier. Unfortunately, you only get PBs after you beat the Diggernaught which is after the first Omega Metroid fight.
Useful note, the Spider Boost (ballspark off a wall by dropping a power bomb with spider ball active) can disrupt some of the Queen's attacks, if you launch yourself into her with it. Not all of them, though.

This game originally started as a remake of Fusion, as a matter of fact the remake was teased all the way back in Metroid Prime 3 as Project Dread. EDIT: Dread isn't dead!
Seems you might have played one of the later releases of AM2R, in the 1.0 version the Omega Metroid were really hard and tough to beat, and they shredded your hp no problem, later versions got them nerfed. Also Shadowserge here might have made the fight longer by not using supers, super missiles after countering them really wreck the Omegas
How you made it through the Diggernaut fight and the entire section from 17:46 to 18:04 without getting damaged is absolutely phenomenal! This has to be one of the best sections of this upload. Well done!!
@@SoldierOfFate That is wrong. EMMIs are restricted to certain zones which appear to only take up like a fifth of the locations we’ve seen. Metroid Dread is certainly going to have cool bosses and action, but it’s also going to have some scary sequences and gameplay every now and then.
With every Metroid subseries, Ridley never appears in the 2nd instalment, but gets 2 fights in the 3rd to compensate. In the original Metroid 2: Return of Samus, he was absent, but in Super Metroid, he was fought in the Ceres Space Station at the beginning, and fought near the end in Norfair, for the main series. For Prime, he was nowhere to be found in Echoes, but Corruption had a Meta Ridley battle on Norion and a Omega Ridley battle on the Space Pirate Homeworld, and for the MercurySteam games, he was the final boss of Samus Returns, Metroid 2's official remake, ironically enough, but wasn't there for Dread. Also, if we count Smash, Ridley was in the background for the original, made a cameo in a cutscene in Melee, and got two boss fights in Brawl, first as his normal version, then as Meta Ridley.

19 years. It took that long for Dread to become a reality, and it was because Sakamoto wanted the necessary technologies (he didn't believe the Wii and 3DS were enough) to make that game the way he envisioned it to be.
Lol. Not a chance. Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are considered some of the best video games ever made. Don't get me wrong tough, this is a good game and I enjoyed it a lot, but is not nearly as good or groundbreaking as those I mentioned.
Hope we get some kind of Metroid game at E3 2021 that doesn't disgrace the franchise like Other M or Federation Force. I'd settle for a HD port of the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Switch at this point.
personally i preffer the bosses here over AM2R, mostly because they are better balanced. AM2R bosses try a bit too hard to appeal to hardcore metroid veterans.
Makes sense too since the switch lite basically became the new ds. They could port many of the big name games since most can easily be tweaked to not need touch control.
Weird thing is, while it's out of place for the game, and mainly just exists to explain why he looks organic again in _Super_ , it actually makes _Other M_ *slightly* less bad, in a way. She's done him heavy damage before, and seen him restored with cybernetic technology. She's seen his new form take multiple beatings and come back stronger. And now, she's seen him seemingly die, even drained by a Metroid... but not only does he come back again, it must look to her like it helps him shed the tech and return to full strength. Each beating more brutal and vicious than the last, but he always comes back. Always. Even in _Super Metroid_ , not only does he return pretty much immediately after his defeat here seemingly no worse for wear, but he takes the advantage that let her win this time (the Metroid). And yet, she still perseveres, finishing him off one last time, and even destroying the entire planet to boot. There's no way he could survive it, and he had neither a ship nor the opportunity to escape. And then, in _Other M_ , she sees Ridley reborn before her very eyes. Literally reborn. A new being is born, and grows into not just a lookalike, but the original. She can see the anger in its eyes, feel the malice emanating from him. Just when she thought she'd finally taken Ridley out for good, avenged the vicious cannibal that destroyed her colony and ate her parents before her very eyes, he quite literally comes back from the dead before her. It finally sinks in. Ridley is *eternal* , she can _never_ be free of him. Compared to something like that, and _especially_ right after the emotional rollercoaster of _Super Metroid_ did a number on her, she truly is but a helpless child. She can kill him, she _has_ killed him, she might even have killed him multiple times. All those times she fought him in the past, he might've been killed. But it doesn't matter. He comes back anyways, no matter what. Really, the X did her a world of good by eating his soul (or whatever they do). Though even then, after facing her traumas head-on when she realised that they would never leave her, she's stronger for it. Whether he comes back again or not, she'll be ready, and able to face him. No matter how many Ridleys life throws at her, she's a survivor. He threw everything he had at her, and she overcame it. He came back time and again, she overcame it. He even rose from the dead just to kill her, she overcame it. After that, there's _nothing_ he can do to her. ...I have probably put infinitely more thought into this than the _Other M_ team did.

Not bad, but it would be nice to show another battle with Metroid Alpha (since newborn Alpha dies faster than normal ones, and does not use all attacks), as well as show the battle with Fire Metroids variants (Alpha, Gamma, Zeta and Omega).
Why do people always forget to include the stronger variants of Alphas, Gammas, Zetas, and Omegas? You know, the ones that have stronger projectiles and deal more damage?
Must you always challenge yourself to do a low power run? You're not even fighting the Zeta Metroid with a counter or super missiles OR the ice beam! Why do you refuse to freeze the Gamma Metroid?!
Fusion doesn't need this type of remake. What it needs is to make us feel incredibly weak and scared for our life to the point that losing to the first boss (Arachnus-X) would feel like an actual challenge. Samus Returns did it's own thing, it doesn't need to carry that over to Fusion. Fusion should remain scary with few soundtracks, tougher boss battle and more horrific graphics. I feel like the team that made the first 2 Bioshock games should be the ones to remake Fusion. Either that or the team that made Alien Isolation. Fusion is all about the atmosphere of isolation and the horror of the fact that you are as meek as a baby against bosses that are WAAAAAY tougher than you are. However, I would replace 2 bosses in the game though as the rest are perfectly fine. I would get rid of the purple dildo and instead replace it with one of those super tough-to-kill Zebesians. As for the final boss of the Omega Metroid, I would replace it with Phantoon just like in Other M.

I love how the metroids always have their larval state incorporated with their evolutions. The alien jellyfish never dies.

Was thrown by the Ridley fight when I played this, felt pretty out of place (even knowing how it ties in with Super Metroid).
Or the Ridley X in Metroid Fusion.
It's out of place, but I think the interactions between Samus and the Baby Metroid make up for it, and the battle itself is pretty nice.

Not bad, but it would be nice to show another battle with Metroid Alpha (since newborn Alpha dies faster than normal ones, and does not use all attacks), as well as show the battle with Fire Metroids variants (Alpha, Gamma, Zeta and Omega).
Why did they have so many giant monsters hidden in the background if they were only gonna let you fight one?

gamma metroids are the ones that i hate fighting due to the fact that they run away after taking damage, which forces you to go looking for them.

@@MasterKnightDH Omegas and Zetas do mot change their movesets, and the Alphas and Gammas only change one move

Fusion doesn't need this type of remake. What it needs is to make us feel incredibly weak and scared for our life to the point that losing to the first boss (Arachnus-X) would feel like an actual challenge. Samus Returns did it's own thing, it doesn't need to carry that over to Fusion. Fusion should remain scary with few soundtracks, tougher boss battle and more horrific graphics. I feel like the team that made the first 2 Bioshock games should be the ones to remake Fusion. Either that or the team that made Alien Isolation. Fusion is all about the atmosphere of isolation and the horror of the fact that you are as meek as a baby against bosses that are WAAAAAY tougher than you are. However, I would replace 2 bosses in the game though as the rest are perfectly fine. I would get rid of the purple dildo and instead replace it with one of those super tough-to-kill Zebesians. As for the final boss of the Omega Metroid, I would replace it with Phantoon just like in Other M.
