Dusting Off 72V BBSHD VESC 29er MTB. Assessing DIY Chain Tensioner Situation. FLIPSKY 75100 PRO V2

- It's time to take my 29er MTB E-Bike for a spin! This beast is powered by a Bafang BBSHD motor, Flipsky 75100 Pro V2 controller (grab yours at flipsky.net and use code EBB for $10 off!), and a 72V 20ah Samsung 40T3 battery. I've been tinkering with a DIY chain tensioner, and it's been working with mixed results. Let's see how many times the chain derails on this ride and assess the situation.
Join me as I navigate trails and roads, putting my E-Bike and DIY tensioner to the test. Will it hold up, or will the chain keep slipping? Stay tuned to find out!

30:44 "Here lies Tellaria Stuntman"😂😂😂
I saw him again and he was trying to flag me down and get me to stop 😂
@@EBikeBuilder_ stop the video or stop to talk?😂
@@BrettWoodBiking stop to “talk” lol i waved at him and kept going
@@EBikeBuilder_ Smart move. You can never tell what's behind a person's eyes now times.
@@BrettWoodBiking he had a moto helmet on But the one time i did see his eyes he looked like he was into stimulants
5:42 happened to me yesterday. 😭 Up the back, on the seat, on the backpack... Gagging for 20 miles home
Was someone looking at you? 😅
@@patrickoneill1011haha in my case it wasn’t a dog shit haha it felt like i hit a questionable mud pie🤨
Does the VESC have a thermal rollback?
Yeah in the Motor CFG under Temperature, its lets you pick a Temp Sensor Type and put in the Thermistor Beta value and all that. and the Temp Cutoff Start and End temps etc. I've used it and it does alright. It has a bunch of Temp Sensor Types like NTC 10K and whatever. And you can use scripting to implement a custom temp sensor and override it with script , I guess, if vesc doent have your temp sensor type implemented
With the VESC recording, seems your speedometer drops off when coasting. Seems like you're doing around 30mph or a little faster. Seems to be 30mph is what the ebike Nazis will allow with no license, registration or insurance. Hawaii is close to "redefining" ebike classifications by adding a blurb on having fully operable pedals but doesn't define what that means. If the eBike has pedals & your feet go on them when riding, then that's fully operable in my resonable interpretation of Hawian codes.
@@stevecumming6427 i have vesc set to show 30mph as the max but the bike can go faster , about 42mph was the max on that ride but i think it happened at the beginning when i was going behind the truck down that hill and not recording Vesc yet. In general i like being able to do more than 30 but yeah not sure about posting videos of that online Lol
You are right the speedo drops to 16mph when coasting, The speed in vesc is calculated from the rpm and the gear ratio and wheel diameter. So the speed looks correct when I’m on the throttle. But when I’m coasting it will only be 16mph etc. its my script that does the “virtual freewheeling” , i think that’s just how fast the chain ring is spinning from the freewheeling, i need to make it so that when I’m going faster it freewheels faster, but the idea is it automatically keeps the motor coasting so there’s not a big jerk when I engage the throttle
@@EBikeBuilder_ sorry for jumping in, what is the problem with posting it online? The other day somebody said something about a portable dyno 😂. I never heard of this shit. I can't imagine anybody dragging that crap around testing people's e-bikes with all the shit going on in the world. And I live in Karen Central. 🙄 Is this actually a thing? Why is everybody so scared to death of e-bikes. One Tesla is about 1,000 e-bikes and nobody scared about those. Every soccer mom/ Karen in the world wants one
@@BrettWoodBiking ah mostly its just annoying, whenever you post a video and go more than 30mph you get a bunch of karens leaving comments about how there is a federal law and this and that and calling the police and stuff. When I used to do my Cycle Analyst overlay where it would show the speed on the screen, I would get a million comments about how i was going 35MPH instead of 30 or whatever. BUT if they cant see the speed they are none the wiser i guess? I dont go much faster than 30 for most of my riding. They have portable dynos in the UK i think. or those ridiculous european countries where they dont want anyone to have fun. But if people keep riding sur rons on the sidewalk we will probably be there soon. Lol so yeah ill just do 30 most of the time
@@EBikeBuilder_ really? I had no idea people were that miserable. It's got to be a certain age group. Location in the world ... can't imagine being brought in a time place where you're taught not to question anything and it spills over into one's own words policing others. 😂
There's a guy on another channel and he gets flack all the time about not wearing a helmet. Another where they cry about not wearing goggles. Insufferable people.
