    Those of us who remember the "early days of hip hop" (highlighted by the release of "Rapper's Delight") remember it used to be about "enjoying yourself" and "sharing your experiences," period. In short, KRS One is basically saying that "Hip-Hop" was the "inspiration that preceded the action." This is what Hip Hop "used to be" and was treated. Look back at all the "true" pioneers (Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Eric B. & Rakim, Stetsasonic, Juice Crew, Boogie Down Productions, MC Shan, DJ Scott LaRock, Audio Two, MC Lyte, Kool Mo Dee, Salt 'N Pepa, Whodini, The Treacherous Three, etc...) and you'll see they all expressed their experiences and ideals of hip hop by just "interpreting their surroundings" with a little "song & rhyme." Hip hop used to be a "party atmosphere with no drama, troubles, or violence. The tragedy we call hip hop today was ushered in around 1987 when NWA, King Sun, and other West Coast Gang-Banging rap crews started getting record deals. Fyi, Dr Dre (a.k.a "Beats Audio") will forever be the pioneering architect of this "gangster trash," misogynistic," "ruff yo azz up" subculture that's both "foolishly" glamorized and decimated the true meaning of Hip Hop. Don't let Dre fool you; he was "nothing about gang banging" when he was with his first group (1984) named "World Class Wrecking Crew:" th-cam.com/video/VfKLB6dw9YEA/w-d-xo.htmllthough Although west coast crews were rapping about their experiences, the emphasis was put moreso on the violence, although there were good lyrics as well. Shortly after that, "everybody" was a "thug;" even Tupac said in a 1994 interview that if "thuggin' was going to make the money, then a thug is what he needed to be. KRS One is just trying to "right the ship" because what is known as hip hop today is "way off course..."

      +Tyson Thein You said it best; KRS is a philosopher, extremely intelligent, articulate and wise, it baffles my mind as to how people support garbage rappers who don't care to edify them and shun folks with wisdom, especially in this the good US of A. This should have no less than 1 million views. Watch any other hip hop video with people denigrating women and talking about murdering this and that and driving this car and wearing this, they have 10s of millions of views. Sad state of affairs.

    THE REAL MASTER

  • @leahcartterrab8964
    @leahcartterrab8964 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    He is trying to educate these kids, and he's so knowledgeable, but he could be so much more effective if he used a lesson plan which would help him to plan out the presentation of the subject. As a teacher myself, I notice him jumping around from tangent to tangent. Some tips for KRS:
    1) prepare an outline of the subject. Give students the outline either on paper or as a download. The outline should include all relevant REFERENCE MATERIALS ie, titles/authors of books (as 1 example)
    2) names/dates of all historical events/people/places
    3) VOCABULARY LIST-terms you refer to in your lecture
    4) bring a turntable/LPs to show them how scratch n drop works
    5) find someone to sponsor paying for students to be given your book.
    These are just a few ideas.
    One more idea...have one person, not a student recording your lecture instead of allowing 10 different students to record it. Students should be listening without the distraction of having to record.
    As you read from the books, students should have what you are reading to them on paper, given to them prior to the lecture, so they can follow along.
    I hope this is of some use to you @KRS. It's advice given with love from an open hip-hop heart. You are very very knowledgeable, just need a bit of organization. Much love, peace, blessings!

    Everyone should watch this video and let it soak the mind. Then interpret it in your ways of understanding. Once you've achieved that you can truly express yourself to the world. You then can bring change for the better of everyone, including yourself. KRS-1 is a man of knowledge and understanding. He should be celebrated, but not copied. Even though he is great, you should strive to be even greater. I will achieve this position in life. I am not the next KRS-1, I am the first Mentalkalmplex!!!

    Herc threw a party for his sister. Now, everything released never misses a slant on either killing a girl's identity by the labels people tag on them. it doesn't stop there, rappers miss a whole lot of hiphop's beginnings. Everyone would blame DefJam if Russell Simmons wasn't heading it.
