Based on my visit last month, my favorite ride there is Lightning Rod, followed by Big Bear Mountain, Thunderhead, Wild Eagle, Firechaser Express, Tennessee Tornado, Daredevil Falls, Smoky Mountain River Rampage, Dragonflier, Dolywood Express, Blazing Fury and Mystery Mine.
One warning about Wild Eagle is if you visit in Fall is the bee swarming season. Wild Eagle path through the woods on its hill is home to bee and wasp nests. During certain times of the year, noise and vibrations can cause them to aggressively swarm the tallest and noisiest area (aka, the top of the lift hill can be covered with hundreds of bees and wasps). This is common enough that they have specific signs for it, and employee instructions. The ride will also straight up close if there are too many bees.
Just got back from Dollywood and Thunderhead is even better now. They replaced a lot of the track and it's smoother and feels even faster. I'd go check it out ASAP. Plus it's almost never down and have rarely seen wait times over 30 mins, even when Lightning Rod is down.
Blazing Fury was built by Silver Dollar City. Before Dollywood. I hate the fact it is going away at Silver Dollar City. I hope it's at DW for many years.
I haven't been to dollywood in 10 years. But grew up going there till that point. It's got a special place in my heart and my fiance and I are going in August. So far, wild eagle has been my favorite. Tennessee tornado gives me a blood rush but I like it anyway lol one thing tho, Tennessee tornado top speed used to be 71 mph and its the oldest coaster at dollywood. Blazing Fury is actually a ride that basically tells a story of how bad fires were long ago. It actually used to have water in it at every drop, you'd get pretty wet. It was more fun then cause u couldn't see it lol. I could talk for days about this place. Definitely a place everyone should go to at some point in time. Can't wait till we go in August
Do not ride any of the wooden roller coasters it is very rough. He said that thunderhead isn’t rough but it is very rough, I lifted out of my seat almost and went from side to side.
Im going to dollywood in fall and i will get to ride the great bear mountain when it opens which is exciting, but overall i like the mystery mine the most.
Me personally I have Thunderhead at 2 and Wild Eagle at 3. I don't understand why enthusiasts hate on wild eagle considering it was a prototype when built. Also the reason you had little downtime on lightning rod was because they replaced some track with I-box track to make it more reliable. Great video!
I love loops and my wife and I took our friends from Utah there last month. The kids did TT 5 times in a row because there was almost no line in the last hour. They LOVED it!
Great List! one could make the argument that Lightning Run is the most fun coaster in the South not named 325. (FL not included) I would definitely have a beer with the talking vulture, but I don't think I'd want to have one w/ Crazy Charlie that arsonist S.O.B. lolol
I just subbed. Actually Canyon Blaster at Adventuresome at Circus Circus Las Vegas is the smoothest Arrow looper around. It is inside an air conditioned indoor amusement park so it is not affected by the weather at all . Still smooth as the day she was built. Arrow will always be relevant.
10. Whistle Punk Chaser - Really the only kids ride other than blazing fury and as you can tell it is for very young kids with no thrill. 9. Blazing Fury - A short dark ride with 3 small drops that is still mostly a kids ride but gives a small thrill the first time as the drops might not be expected. Still alot better than Whistle Punk Chaser 8. Dragonflier - Dragonflier is a very short ride that packs a little bit of thrill. It is not very fast but still does a lot with its short layout. This ride also has very long lines because they only have one train going at a time. 7. Firechaser Express - This is a mediocre ride that is a lot of fun the first few times. It goes backwards near the end but but you can barely feel it. This ride also has the longest wait times in all of Dollywood, which is why it is not higher on my list. The launch at the start is also very fun. 6. Thunderhead - This coaster is a lot of fun. The layout is fun to race through but the ride is a little rough as you run through the track. That is only because it is a wood coaster. This is still a good time. The line is normally shorter but can get long at times. 5. Big Bear Mountain - The newest Dollywood coaster is a good one. The Launch at the beginning is a great way to start the ride and it maintains a fast speed through the entire ride. This is the longest coaster at Dollywood and even though you don't go upside down, this ride packs a good time. 4. Mystery Mine - This is one of my favorites at Dollywood. The long wait is worth it. The first drop right at the start is small but it can be surprising. The 90 degree lift hill at the end of the first dark part is a good way to enter the outside part and the first big drop. You go up another 90 degree lift hill and at the top you stop while fire spits in your face. Your drop down 90 degreed into 2 inversions and the final half loop while going back into the station. This is one of the best at Dollywood. 3. Tennessee Tornado - A shorter ride that packs a lot of thrill. The line moves fast which results in shorter wait times. The first drop into the loop de loop is fun but the ride is fast and short. 2. Wild Eagle - A very fun wing coaster. The first drop is a little underwhelming but the rest is very fun. The first loop is great and there are many twist and turns after that make it an almost perfect ride. The seats are very comfortable. It looks like your legs come close to the support beams which could be a little scary, but Wild Eagle is an overall great ride. 1. Lightning Rod - The only thing making this ride not a perfect 10/10 is the unreliability. The ride is often closed for maintenance in the mornings but opens much later in the day. The launch hill is a great way to start, transitioning into the two bunny hills and into a 160 foot drop. The ride continues to twist and turn through out the tight track layout, and maintaining a good speed up to 71 mph through out the entire ride. This is the second best roller coaster I have ever ridden, barley falling behind Fury 325 and Carowinds. I have just recently gotten into roller coasters and have not experienced many. If these rankings of mine are not to your liking, I completely understand as I have just started getting into coasters. I still get that feeling in my stomach even on more tame coasters like Mystery Mine, or Tennessee Tornado. I had just gone to Dollywood about a week ago and these are my rankings of the 10 Roller Coasters at Dollywood
Tbh not the best list imo. Thunderhead and big bear are much higher than Tennessee tornadoe. Tennessee tornado is sooo rough but I guess I could see why you like it
Went to Dollywood a few weeks ago. Lightning Rod is the worst coaster there. Why? Bc you will never ride it. Every time the app said it was running, we'd go to get on it and it would shut down while we were in line or before we could even get there.
The relatively small fire chaser trains means that these lines are usually some of the longest in the park (lightning rod also). Surprised to see Mystery Mine so low. Due to theming and variety, it’s probably our second (maybe third) favorite ride in Dollywood. Thunderheads been so rough every time I’ve been on it. Haven’t rid it in years. Wild Eagle is just an amazing ride; feels more fun or almost relaxing vs. intense. Absolutely fantastic ride.
Couldn’t agree more. KI is better for many reasons. Less crowded, nicer looking, better food, friendlier people. Sure you have more coasters at CP but who cares if you’re lucky to only ride them 1-2 times each after 12 hours? I can ride at least 3x more times at KI than CP. Plus, every single time we went to CP at least 2-3 coasters were down for technical problems. And TFD was down more than half the time we were there on 3 separate visits.
If you see this comment I know I’m commenting really late but do you think Wild eagle is for someone who is short like 4 8 I went yesterday but I was to scare to get on 😅😅😅😅
Wife and I did the same 2 years ago after 1 hour. We were next and the cars left and got stuck right away. They had to get everyone out with a bucket lift. :-D
Im a big wimp when it comes to coasters but i know a lot about them is there any way to get over the fear? Im going to dollywood soon with my friend and i want to make the best out of this trip! Also i subbed you deserve a lot more
Thanks so much!! Honestly, exposure is the best way in my opinion. There are so many safety systems in place! And hey, if you’re lifting out of your seat over hills, that’s airtime! Go for the biggest ride first, it’ll make all the rest seem easy, and rather than worrying about how scary the big ride is all day long, ride it, then enjoy everything else! If you can beat the biggest coaster in a park, you can beat all the rest!
@@KoasterMania i really want to ride lightning rod and wild eagle i almost rode lightning rod back when it opened but it was closed and over time ive gotten more scared of it and ive ridden thunderhead and mystery mine im just going to try and push myself as far as possible and try and get them over so i can feel like I accomplished something
@@dj_neon_delta2897 the good thing is, there’s really nothing to be truly afraid of with these! Sure, they’re tall and fast and do some pretty crazy things, but I always like to look at riding big rides as an opportunity, not a challenge! Lightning Rod especially once you ride it, it’ll be over so fast you wont even know what happened. And wild eagle? Well that’s a super graceful ride that just sits on top of a mountain. (Think of the views!!) In my opinion, it’s all a mindset thing. How can you be afraid of something if its not that scary? I’ve found that if you tell yourself something over and over again, you start to believe it more and more! Just think about how great it’ll feel once you get off the ride and realize it wasn’t all that scary. (Or maybe it was, but also how much fun it was too)
@@KoasterMania Thanks a lot ill tell you how it went im super excited to come ride them because i live in hawaii and sadly there arent any coasters or theme parks and my family lives in Tennessee so yeah definetly been super helpful man thanks so much

Well, Daredevil Falls isn't actually considered a roller coaster! If you check out my video titled: What Even Is A Roller Coaster? It might help answer why!
I've got to disagree on a couple points as a multi-season season pass holder. Thunderhead is extremely shaky every time I've ridden it so much that I get headaches. I've never been able to ride Lightening Rid because it's always down, didn't have a part, and just simply didn't trust it. Wild Eagle is always my #1.
Underrated element of this park: SHADE! Plenty of sunny areas, but a good amount of this park has significant tree coverage.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE HUGE AMOUNT OF VIEWS!! This video has blown up like CRAZY!

I'm pretty sure that's what happened to us. I never got to ride it because it was shut down for days while we were there.
