      Elite field modulation is the most important skill, but after that elite combat endurance helps a lot. The triple time-flow while phased also applies to the repair speed, so phase frigates get a lot of value out of it.
      With this they have comparable survivability to omens, but more offensive power. Which they should, because they cost more DP *and* they need you to spend a skill point on phase coil tuning.

    I have a feeling you plan to make some kinda ship tier list eventually, but would you ever consider making a video on when to use officers for which ship/fleet role and why? Sometimes it's a bit hard to tell if putting an officer should be used for a cruiser/capital for extra boosts or an Omen with Systems Expertise. I guess the question is when should you use an officer and when is it fine leaving a ship to officerless AI.

    After some time, I began to feel confident in this game and ironically, I don't play it anymore, but I feel the need to be interested in the gameplay as a veteran.
    And I must say that I really came to the same GLOBAL conclusion as the author of the video.
    Cruisers harm your "ground-in" fleet fit, requiring constant attention from the commander.
    Frigates or destroyers (especially with an escort module) attached to battleships do their job perfectly, preventing the destruction of battleships, and battleships kill the enemy.
    If you actively play on a personal Flagship, you simply do not have the time to spend so much micromanagement on each of your cruisers, which need an individual order to be effective.
    This does not mean that the build and game through cruisers is impossible or "worse" than through a mix of battleships and accompanying frigates or destroyers.
    You just have to focus on orders, not personal efficiency, and therefore choose other skills.
    In the end, I came to this exact fleet setup on my own, but instead of an aurora, I had a radiant, which I switched to from the Paragon. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, because I own 2 ships - battleships and my elite combat skills apply to them, I not only save an officer, but also get a very effective ship, much more powerful than under the control of an officer. I noticed that in this case the ship behaves like a "moderate" officer, but at the same time it is more decisive and more skillful in regulating the flow, for example, actively using forced ventilation under weak enemy fire.
    As a result, the fleet consisted of 1 radiant under my control, 1 paragon, which I also indirectly controlled but on behalf of the AI, and another 1 paragon under the control of an officer, on which I installed an omega weapon so that it would be even more effective, because I felt like the officer sometimes got into tough situations, much more often than my personal AI-controlled paragon when I was sitting inside the Radiant.
    Otherwise, I spammed frigates like in the video.
    I think a cruiser fleet is not viable if you want to actively participate in combat, and not play the game like an RTS. BUT this does not apply to spamming cruisers-carriers.
    I think in this case you can actively get carried away with personal efficiency.
    Also, maybe you can actively spam phase cruisers like Doom? I have not tried.

    Feels like giving your ships too many commands "confuses" them. Like giving AI "eliminate" command forces them to be reckless which can be dangerous, and "move" seems to take priority which messes with their positioning and combat tactics.
    I prefer to mostly use "control" and "defend".
    "Controlling" points, even if their bonuses are useless or insignificant still gives tactical advantage, and, what's more important, enemy wants them. With "control" your smaller faster ships tend to protect points while simultaneously covering anchors flanks, distracting cruisers and clearing off enemy frigates and destroyers.
    "Defend" straight up creates 3k unit tethers in which your ships will try to remain. This allows for tighter positioning and creating defensive lines (meatgrinders) while also giving your AI plenty room for maneuver.

    • @bigbrainenergyguy
      @bigbrainenergyguy  วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      The increased turret speed is good with the two tachyon turrets. Those things have very wide firing arcs so they often need to cover a lot of distance, which is worth it because they can often pop frigates by themselves if both hit the same target.
      For the s-mod bonus, it's not just the paragon but capitals in general. Compared to hardened shields or ITU, s-modding turret gyros gives you 15 less OP. This means you are *effectively* paying 15 OP for the s-mod bonus. On a capital ship, turret gyros gives you +5% damage vs cruisers, +10% damage vs destroyers, +15% damage vs frigates, and +25% damage vs missiles and fighters. That's easily worth 15 OP, and it's almost always better than the other s-mod options.

      I think for testing purposes and making these videos he cheats them in, but he shows how to do it properly in at least one of his longer playthroughs. It takes awhile because there's no real trick to it, basically you hire one that starts with skills you want, hope they get the right skills on level up, and if they don't, you fire them and start over with another new hire. Sometimes if the right skill doesn't pop up, he'll burn a story point to mentor them to expand the number of skills offered to try to avoid starting over.

    • @bigbrainenergyguy
      @bigbrainenergyguy  18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I wouldn't quite say there's no trick to it, because mentoring re-rolls the skills in addition to adding new options. So it's best to not mentor the officer for as long as possible, then use it when you hit a level with none of the skills you want. Even better if you save right before you mentor. Then if it still doesn't have the right skills you reload and mentor again; every time you do this it'll roll up different skills.

You almost paid the price of using a ship with no armor when that Nova overloaded you, if it wasn't that omen saving your ass...
    Omen's are S tier, without any doubt

      that build is specifically made to chase and bully frigates and destroyers, or to out alpha-strike a couple cruisers before retreating. It's not intended to fight capitals at all (except as part of a swarm surround setup like the Omens in the fleet). The paragons are for fighting battleships and the omens are for guarding the flanks of the paragons.
      The whole point is that if any frigates or destroyers get past the omens and behind the paragons, the aurora can get over there quickly and take it out before the paragon gets into trouble. And on top of that, whenever the paragons are fine, the aurora can go merrily picking off enemy frigates the whole time.

      @@murphy54000 I understood that, and It works on that role, I tried similar builds, but the low range penalty from SO makes it lose so much time to get into melee range to finish those pesky frigates, that is not worth it. Also the aurora not having a large energy makes it difficult to build it for range. I don't know auroras, I just explode remnants with pather ships the way Ludd wanted, and I don't chase frigates I just destroy everything with battleship range until I am a the top of the map

      @@danielpedro77 the Aurora is one of the spriteliest cruisers in the roster, though, especially with its system, it’s very well suited to chase down as a role.
      You get so much speed out of the combination of the Aurora’s system and Safety Overrides that I think you’re not losing time overall due to losing range from SO.
