Yellow dots on tyres should be aligned with the valve. Guess that’s why rear was out so much. But they weren’t that far away 😉 Nice job. And sounds sweet
Idk why youtube recommended this channel to me but I'm glad it did! I just watched the whole R1 series today and man I really felt your happiness when you went for that first ride! Just the sped up footage of you cleaning and fixing the bike so far must have taken you countless hours! Not to mention actually going through the footage and editing the videos XD you must be a little crazy to do all that! I was wondering how much you've approximately spent on just the R1 parts so far and have you done any calculations on how much you think the overall cost will be in the end? Good shit dude, keep it up
That’s the type of comment that just hit home 😀 Thanks a lot for your nice words man, I’m happy to see you actually realize the work behind those videos. Yes, it’s a lot of time, way more editing behind a screen than actually working on the bike by the way 👨🏻💻 I’m working on the Virago right now but I’ll get back to finishing the R1 in the next 2 weeks. Yes at the end of the project I will do a cost breakdown because everybody is asking for it 😅👍
Thank you for showing your struggle trying to get the tires on. Everyone says you can do it yourself and I've done it on dirt bike tires and that made me work up a sweat. I'm like I'm not going to even try to do it on a way stiffer motorcycle tire. I thought I was just being a bitch but I see it is more difficult than it is worth. I feel way better about paying to get it done now.
Thanks Luke, yes it's getting close 😀 so the front sprocket nut is made to be punched in the 2 grooves present in the countershaft, this way it locks it in place 👍
I would have but I’m trying to keep that project on a budget too. I checked reviews and I felt like because I’m not using it on track I’ll be good with those tires ✌️
@Tristan Durand Builds so that " Lightning " Tyre is expensive everywhere no matter where it is 😂, yet those dunlop is good too for daily ride or even scratch some knee pads i think, btw always waiting for your videos building this bike since i want to have that bike too, awesome builds you do man ! , you proof that everyone can build and restore the bike even tho you dont have a big garage to do it ! 👌
Yess,at last quick test on the road! I wanna ask you. Do you plan after finish the bike, will you put quickshifter, and all the good stuff, like flash the ECU and more good mods? PS: 6:56 Wait WHAAAT how you balance the tire without balancing machine ???? You are incredible Tristan ma boy, keep building
Yes that quick test was everything. So rebuilding a bike you quickly understand that you need to keep the project on a budget otherwise it doesn’t make sense anymore. I would love to put a quick shifter on this bike but that’ll be for another one I think 👍
Honest opinion I’ve never worked on a bike period I have an 07 R1 sitting at the shop witch needs after all a rebuild. Would you recommend me tackling the job or simply backing ect thousand’s to the mechanic ?
I know I would do it myself but I’ve been doing that for while... it’s been a slow progression 🔧 It’s very easy to start taking things apart and then life takes over and you sell that giant puzzle to someone like me... So as you’re not experienced I wouldn’t recommend you start working on this bike yourself And I don’t think that it financially makes sense to dish out 1000s to a mechanic... Why don’t you sell it?
@@TristanDurandBuilds I see you ! But yeah right lol again though there’s on one way to learn right ? Plus you’re a FaceTime call always anyways hahaha jk. Why do you say it doesn’t sense though ? The reason I won’t sell it because it’s my first super bike and I busted my ass to pay that off in cash. It’s a long story with the bike honestly.. I appreciate you taking time out of your day and writing back salute amigo✌️
Every time I granted an emotional connection to a material thing (a vehicle in particular) it ended up being a bad decision financially. I’m all about learning by doing (you saw my videos, most of the things I do are new to me) The proportion of people starting that kind of project and dropping halfway is staggering, that’s why I don’t recommend it to a beginner. When don’t know what’s broken you don’t know how much it will cost and how much work is needed. That’s why I feel like you have to move on, but maybe it’s a simple thing that you could fix in a month for less than a $1000, it’s a gamble

Waiting for the R1 fully rebuild!
Yes Brian, I start working on it in a couple of days and should post the video in the next week 👍
Yellow dots on tyres should be aligned with the valve. Guess that’s why rear was out so much. But they weren’t that far away 😉
Nice job. And sounds sweet
Yep yellow dots are the lightest part of the tire and should be aligned with the valve 👍

Yes! Co congratulations my man! The bike is unbelievable!
It feels really really nice to have such a smooth bike after so many issues at first ✌️
Where I live garages that do car tyres do bike tyres. They use the same tools for both
I agree Ben, where I’m from they usually do both too, but here in NYC having motorcycle is a rarity and garages aren’t familiar working on them ✌️
Great stuff Tristan! Cheers, Doug
Thanks Doug, I appreciate your enthusiasm ✌️
Very well done mate! So impressed 👍🏼
Thanks man, I appreciate it ✌️

You really need a tab washer on that front sprocket dude.

@@TristanDurandBuilds Oh ok, thats good.
You should get the diablo sc2 like you used in the front tyres, they looks and feel awesome !

I’ll see how those tires are, I’ll talk about it

Yep and well alive apparently 😀
I can’t wait recording my first real outing with it 💨
@@TristanDurandBuilds gl man and stay safe on the road
I will, thanks for the nice words
Unless I missed it, I didn't see you check the rear tire alignment and chain
That’s true I didn’t show it on camera, I’m thinking about doing a video on just that 👍
What shop did you go to in New York to get the tires mounted?
That was in Jersey city 😰
Pit Stop Motor Sport 👍
@@TristanDurandBuilds Thanks. Too far for me tho. I was looking for somewhere in NYC.

front sprocket is the wrong way around. text always goes to the outside, visible when installed
I tried to explain why I positioned it this way
@@TristanDurandBuilds it's still wrong
Flo is correct. flat side towards motor, lip facing out.
And that's why I don't do my own tires. LOL
Ha ! Yes makes sense 😅
Next time I’ll succeed 🤞
is that front tire backwards sorry to criticize but the tread looks backwards
Yeah I agree that’s exactly what I thought when mounting but no, the arrow is in the good direction 👍
So what do you do for living man?
I spend my time making videos these days 🎥
Ah tu fais une chaîne anglaise 😁
Et oui j’ai commencé en faisant 2 chaînes 🎥

You need to stay with a 530 , the engine is too much for a 520
Meh, I kind of disagree with that. A 530 would last longer but in race they all use 520 💨
