The Spot has a soft gill plate, a Croaker has a sharp gill plate. The second or third one you caught was a regular Croaker.

There you are. Man, I missed your fishing videos. If you can, go to break water park at Lake Pontchartrain and sit there at night with cut bait for some serious Gar action.

Mr. Bingle! Who Remembers Mr Bingle from the White House? Or in French as
la Maison Blanche or as Louisianians commonly know it by Maison Blanche, the Department Store? Fish look good, eat em up! I don't catch and release. If I injure it enough to bring it out of the water, it's food.. and yes.. suffocating it in air does damage it as well as the hook hole. Throwing it back just makes it fish food.

Checkpoint Charlie's! Oh the memories I have of that place from when we went down for Jazz Fest some time in the mid-1990s... the years all blend together at this point. We were staying at a hotel called Le Moth (IIRC) a few doors down so it became our hangout, we'd go there before and after doing the Bourbon Street bar crawl. Cheap beer, good food, and live bands! Loved Checkpoint Charlies... there was a laundromat attached to it also which we thought was hilarious. Didn't need to do laundry though lol. Was it really over 20 years ago? Where does the time go?
