a note for myself, so i remember this feeling, discovering this song, seeing this performance of it, starting oh so tentatively, and beginning to glow, and flow. they found their flow with each other, the singer found the heart that lives in it, and sang so savage and true. and i knew i wasn't all alone, and that i can jump out and reach for my joy.
@@reedsparks I saw them perform it live for the first time last year. It was their first time performing since covid. What is the opposite of phoning it in? They were there, and I was literally brought to tears.

At the time of their release i was Obseesed 🥲 i felt an escape when i would listen to it. Thank You Onika Tanya and team for your contributions to this kind of Marimba Lullaby at Peace sound & The Shins too. 12/7/23
I have this weird memory from high school where me and my friends skipped class to go surfing and afterwords were listening to this album while smokong a joint. I just remeber appreciating the beauty of the world and this song even though i had no idea what is was about at the time.
Known this song since I was in 8th grade but this drummer made me love it even more he looked like he was having fun creating a beautiful but energy filled song

Such a spine tingling atmosphere setter. With a good pair of over the ear headphones and a dark room the song will almost literally drift you away to a new world! Moonlight coming in from the window is just gravy.
this was my favorite shins lineup. I think I cried manly tears when they shuffled again. I saw them live in NYC and couldn't take my eyes off Jessica Dobson.
Pour moi, le plus beau titre de The Shins, et la meilleure version live de Sleeping Lessons (malgré les fausses notes). Aérienne, progressive, explosive, positive !!!
I recently discovered The Shins thanks to the related artists feature on Spotify. I love this band! They now made it to my regular rotation. Thanks for the upload.
Well rehearsed, tight band. No fake vocals- playing and singing their asses off, great melodic sentiments: So refreshing to to see real talent and sincerity out there. (phew) I was beginning to think the music industry was already dead.
Listening to this song is a better high for me than Sex or Heroin or even Meth sex and that is saying a lot because I am a recovery Heroin addict and sex addict of 27 years!!!! Music is the best creation of GOD!!!!!
This song is about being a recovering alcoholic... I love it they have nothing left on which you depend so enlist every ounce of your bright blood and off with there heads... I heard this song at such a critical time 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I really like the backing vocal melodies that Jessica adds in to the verses @ 2:58 & 4:03 Really pieces together that classic pre-Wincing Shins sound that this song was always kind of lacking.
+Sterling Blake She's from Los Angeles and still resides there when she's not touring with the Shins and her own band Deep Sea Diver; to whom she is married to the drummer. (sorry) She is Christian and often reflects that into her own music; Deep Sea Diver. You will find your girl, Sterl. Keep striving.
Thank you for your encouragement. I am a Christian too. I am looking for a virgin. I play bass guitar in a band from San Diego called; STARVING CHILDREN.
ppl say that so and so band sounds better live, or cant perform or shit live. i knew nothing of the shins befoe gardenstate many years and now sleeping lessons through spotify. But damn can this guy sing, can that gal rock, and can that dude drum, the BASSIST. true performers, truly talented ppl not propped up by auto tune or marketing
Hayden H I guess they wouldn't come to Brazil Haha... And I found out they aren't famous here, unfortunatelly. So, at the moment Brazil isn't a good business for them
I did not know he was in this band and I clicked this video and I feel at once ignorant but also so excited that there’s a whole new world of Richards music for me to discover
Maybe if you left out the word exactly. It aint the same as playing in the rain in an outdoor venue. It's all good. I love this song. I wish I could marry a woman like Jessica. I love you and wish the best for you. Do you play???
I don't know. I love this studio album, but the screws don't seem as tightened live. Not sure if it's the fact that every time I see them they have someone new in the band. Still a great song, nevertheless
My favorite song and lineup of the Shins. Jessica Dobson on guitar gives them such a cool dynamic. Can listen to this over and over
Jon Sortland's smile @ 2:29 says it all.
Love the energy from the drummer when the song kicks of.
do you know when this song came out???
Of what?

James has my favorite voice in all of music. When he hits that first "spit it out on the ragged floor!" Man I wish I could sing like him.
So I fall asleep listening to Radiohead and wake up listening to this for the first time ever. Holy shit why haven't I heard of these guys earlier! 🤘🏼
Damien You must of never seen any Zack Braff movies.
Welcome brother! An all time love for me.

One of my favorite songs of all time. Hopefully I'll get to see them do it live someday.
There's so much going on in their songs, it grows on you
Saw them live at the Hollywood Bowl with my wife and 2 daughters, an absolute night of joy, plus we discovered the opening band called Daywave.

Yo. The ending.
