Born too late to explore earth. Born too early to explore space. Born at the exact right time to experience Ryan Gosling's legacy unfold before my eyes.
@@mummyjohn In online discussions of film & TV, there are a few characters who, when mentioned, you can usually find a few posts in response that read something like, "He's literally me", or, "He's just like me fr". The characters are typically outcasts in some way, shape, or form, and suffer from internal conflicts, like loneliness, a lack of meaning or purpose in their lives, and depression. Think of the Driver, Patrick Bateman, Tyler Durden, Travis Bickle, or Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, just to name a few. Young guys who are still figuring themselves out might watch a movie and personally identify with facets of characters like that and their struggles in some way or another, so it's become a bit of a running joke to say, "He's literally me", at the mention of certain characters or even typecasted actors.
It's hilarious how Ryan Gosling went from being the guy millennials like myself desperately avoided watching because of being forced to endure The Notebook by girls back in high school in the 2000s, to becoming every dude's favorite actor in the blink of an eye? I guess Blade Runner or Drive did some serious magic because now Gen Z has turned him into a meme sensation, lmao

Same story! Roger Deakins and his camera work made all other movies feel like cheap phone recording. Everything about that movie, like plot, casting, design and acting, screamed - perfect movie! Such a shame it failed, at the box office, even though it's legacy and cult following are already established, which shows how great of a work of art it is.

My first Ryan Gosling "that's literally me!" moment was in The Nice Guys, when trying to force-open a door, he cuts his wrist with the glass and ended up in the hospital with nuns. Totally relatable!
You look at acting and think it's easy but seeing how Ryan literally bought a car. took it apart and put it back together and practiced piano everyday for 4 months straight shows, it's really not as easy as it looks. That's some dedication to the craft.
the nice guys is one of my favorites of all time. i always end up watching it again the day after. his physical comedy is so great. i need more goose action also though
he's very famous and all but i don't think he gets credit enough as an artist and actor, it actually takes some talent to convey your characters so naturally that so many people collectively find you very relatable
The Nice Guys continues to be my favourite comedy film. I think it's amazingly written, shot and performed. Out of the loudmouth Gosling characters, Holland March is easily the best. Great video though, it's crazy how much you know about all the films I've made.
Nice Guys is one of my all-times, and I realize it fits into a constellation I call "cinema of chaos." If you like it, you'll probably also like: - War on Everyone (this is first on the list for a reason) - Inherent Vice - Better Living Through Chemistry - Confessions of a Dangerous Mind - Dope - Licorice Pizza
He is such an underrated actor. I mean he's loved by many but mainly for his looks and because he's charismatic. Rarely you see people praise his performance. He is one of the best actors today IMO
I saw Blade Runner 2049 in theaters opening weekend and I’ll never forget it. I walked out of the theater in complete awe of the story, world, and ofc my amazing acting
I love that you took the video idea somewhat seriously. 'cause memes aside, Ryan is an amazing actor and really plays his roles to the fullest. I feel like Robert Pattinson is having a similar revival to him, ever since Good Time he's been playing some very niche and unique roles, I think you should make a video about him too.
Watching Good Time made me realize that I had seriously misjudged Pattinson as an actor up until that point (thanks Twilight), he's great in The Lighthouse too -along with Willem Dafoe!
@@marimoerostraw It's understandable, most did early in his acting career. I think it's commendable the way Pattinson pushed himself as an actor with many indie and nicher projects after Twilight instead of falling into the trap many actors fall for with playing an architype. He was stuck by that Twilight stigma for a while but now I feel like most recognize his skill in multiple roles.
Lars and the real girl is my absolute favourite Ryan gosling film. I think it really showed his acting talent, he should have won an Oscar for that role.
Ryan gosling is also starring in a movie in the future called project Hail Mary. It’s an adaptation of a book written by the same guy who wrote the Martian. I love the video and shout out to you for actually standing up for Stay and Song to Song. Two of his three movies that are secretly masterpieces but no one talks about. However I gotta say I think you missed the point of Only God Forgives. That’s his third hidden gem movie and it’s my favorite out of all of them besides maybe Drive and Blade Runner. You can’t look at it like a crime movie. You have to look at it like a metaphor or a parable. Every single shot has so much depth and visual storytelling that the “plot” comes from the art. Trust me. The movie holds together great. It’s just weather or not your willing to take the time to really dig deep into the themes and metaphors. Strongly recommend going back to it with different expectations.
I'm a bit interested in philosophy and I've come to an interesting conclusion. Since "nothing" does not exist because there is something everywhere, then there is nothing that would separate one being from another, which means that everything is one being. By this deduction it can be concluded that me and Ryan Gosling are the same entity, which means that the statement "Ryan Gosling is literally me" is philosophically correct.
Start from now, whenever i see lights from gas station or 24 hour store at night, its going to be pink and purple, with kavinsky's iconic nightcall played on loop
the most imperative memory "hey! clean your room". I remeber as young 8 year old knowing he was cool. Ryan Gosling has always been a cool man and continues to be. I loved you in LARS and the REAL GIRL
I'm afraid the first and the only one movie i watched with Ryan is Blade runner 2049 and i loved it. What's even more important i saw it this year right after i watched first Blade runner. With fresh memory and emotions of original, 2049 hits so strongly, especially during the scene with Tears in the rain in the end
Some of my favourite movies mentioned here: Beyond the pines Remember the titans Crazy stupid love The notebook Absolutely incredible movies. Watching drive tomorrow.
He has quite a career. He became a major teen idol after notebook and then struggled to push through this label. Then there was a drugs period (w Fracture at its peak), then NWR launched Gosling's renaissance and made him a major star. But it's been rocky since la la land . The best choice is to produce your movies but he ain't a businessman, he's a theater kid. I guess he'll go deeper into comedy territory. Only god forgives is not a great movie but Gosling peaked there.
You're gonna tell me that you saw the scene in Nice Guys where Ryan breaks a glass panel to break into a bar, but accidentally cuts his wrist, goes "thats... that's a lot of blood" and it hard cuts to him in an ambulance and the paramedic saying "WE'RE LOSING HIM" and you didn't think "ok this is the best movie I've ever seen"? Jokes aside, it's the movie that made me like The Goose. Also Fat Crowe is fantastic in it.
Blade Runner 2049 made 100M at the box office. I wouldn't say "nobody was in the theatre". If you "never heard a single person talk about it" at the time is maybe because you were 16. All of us sci-fi movie nerds were expecting this movie like a kid before Christmas. Denis Villeneuve had made Arrival at this point and we knew 2049 would be good (he also got nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director for Arrival). The critical success of 2049 had nothing to do with the pandemic... this was 3 years before.
Really enjoyed the video, i like how i didn't know most of these movies, yet they are presented in such a way to pick some and add them to movies i'd like to watch. Also we are all Ryan Gosling.

Parmenides!
Gosling's acting in Bladerunner was so amazing to me, one of my favorites.
Start from now, whenever i see lights from gas station or 24 hour store at night, its going to be pink and purple, with kavinsky's iconic nightcall played on loop
Thank you soooo much for making a video about me this is the first time i felt recognized by a youtuber
I really think Big Short is his best performance. I'm so ready for Barbie to see what he decides to do.
The dedication. You're definitely him!
He really should’ve got an Oscar for la la land it’s genuinely beautiful
the most imperative memory "hey! clean your room". I remeber as young 8 year old knowing he was cool. Ryan Gosling has always been a cool man and continues to be. I loved you in LARS and the REAL GIRL
i cant believe this whole video is about me, good job man
I'm afraid the first and the only one movie i watched with Ryan is Blade runner 2049 and i loved it. What's even more important i saw it this year right after i watched first Blade runner. With fresh memory and emotions of original, 2049 hits so strongly, especially during the scene with Tears in the rain in the end
Ryan Gosling truly is a modern gem. And that’s because he is literally me
Hes literally me
Thanks for supporting my acting career! i really appriciate it.
Man, how does a youtuber capture the essence of what it is like to be, literally me, every day through out these years.
1:24 he was literally Rambo
Some of my favourite movies mentioned here:
Beyond the pines
Remember the titans
Crazy stupid love
The notebook
Absolutely incredible movies.
Thanks for making a video about all my movies
Even tho you didnt get my permission but thanks for watching my movies
Blade Runner 2049 and The Nice Guys are probably my favorite movies of his. Crazy Stupid Love is also an underrated gem.
Ryan Gosling throwing knives to kids at school is a very sigma gosling thing to do.
💀
You're gonna tell me that you saw the scene in Nice Guys where Ryan breaks a glass panel to break into a bar, but accidentally cuts his wrist, goes "thats... that's a lot of blood" and it hard cuts to him in an ambulance and the paramedic saying "WE'RE LOSING HIM" and you didn't think "ok this is the best movie I've ever seen"?
Jokes aside, it's the movie that made me like The Goose. Also Fat Crowe is fantastic in it.
hahaha oke i give you that
Thank you for making a video about my movies, I appreciate it!!
I know you were going to do every movie, but Lars was such an amazing roll for me. Its my favourite movie I've ever acted in.
I saw Blade Runner 2049 opening night with my dad, double feature. The theater was packed. It was an amazing experience
Your voice is so calm yet every joke you make is made better by your voice
hahaha legend
thanks for making this video about me, I always enjoy watching myself in the internet
Really enjoyed the video, i like how i didn't know most of these movies, yet they are presented in such a way to pick some and add them to movies i'd like to watch. Also we are all Ryan Gosling.
