Spent 12+ years working at Hammacher Schlemmer Flagship store in mid-town Manhattan. And a former Today producer told me of her time when she had cancer. After her final treatment Willard Scott convinced her to stay at the Park Plaza to recoup for a few days. She thought it was a good idea. When she checked out of the hotel she was told Willard Scott paid her bill and there was a limo waiting to take her home.
What a true gentleman and I always enjoyed watching him through the years. His kindness and positivity are truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing this tribute. I’m sure he did wonderful things for people with no thought to let anyone know. I love that Al Roker valued all the lessons and friendship he enjoyed with Willard. He was an American icon.
I was really hoping that when he turned 100, they would make a big deal out of it. I always loved seeing him announce centenarian birthdays 💯. RIP Mr. Scott ❤️
RIP Willard. I grew up watching him and enjoying his 100 year old Smuckers birthday tributes as well. I wish I could have met him person. My condolences to his family❤️🙏
One of the greatest Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade hosts of all-time. A very special part of my childhood on Turkey Day growing up. R.I.P. Willard Scott
I grew up with Willard and I felt the same way with Al. I think my liking of him was his self deprecating humour and his many visits on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. They’re both guy’s guys and the ladies loved them.
Good intentions with your comment, but there's nothing colourblind about a friendship. You can't not see colour, but you don't let it prevent you from seeing the person first..you relate to each other on a human level. More people need to do that, get to know a person, don't judge by the surface.. Both of these men are great human beings.. Humorous guys! RIP Mr Scott. Condolences to his family..
I'm old enough to remember Willard Scott as the weatherman for my home station WRC-TV NBC4 Washington, DC. He was an absolute HOOT. He was hilarious. R.I.P. to a TV legend.
I grew up watching this man when I was eating my breakfast before I go to school or going out to play. Rest in Peace, Mr. Scott, sir. Thanks for the memories.
I was so hoping Willard would live to 100, so they could celebrate his birthday on the Smuckers segment he once did. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family!
I, too, so enjoyed watching Willard Scott do the weather reports and his salute to 100 year olds. His spirit, enthusiasm, and kindness were infectious. Thank you Al Rocker for sharing your insights. RIP Mr. Scott.

I remember waking up with him watching The TODAY SHOW in the early 80’s with my Mom. Mr. Scott was as sweet as he could be, plus he would make you laugh. Willard had a great outlook at life and loved everyone! He will be missed. I am so sorry for everyone’s loss. Prayers for everyone effected by his passing. R.I.P. 😭
I am in tears. He was a great man, a really really really really great man! You youngsters out there, you millennials need to watch his highlights. This man was television gold! Rest in Paradise to Legendary Television/Radio Personality, Weatherman, and TV's First Ronald McDonald, Willard Scott (1934-2021). Thanks for the many, many great memories. You will be sadly missed, Sir.

It was my job to get them whatever they needed. Willard was jovial and comedic even off camera. As a teen, this was a big moment in the start of my career.
