I'm only in 3rd year (I have a previous degree in health), having spoken to a lot of qualified doctors and seniors, I'm realising that the race to get that reg post starts in medical school as it becomes increasingly competitive. To try to involve myself in research, societies and demonstrate a long standing interest in a specialty, impress on each rotation etc etc. Stay the extra hour to help the reg who's tomorrow consultant, network and build relationships (thats the only thing you can do as an undergrad). Even then it might not be enough. Because I'm older - I came knowing what I want to do. That CMSA website and its 28 colleges knows me 😂.I'm open to everything, but we will see what the future has in store.
That's so true.... what I also did was look at the past papers from the colleges to see if it was the type of content I was in to or willing to study 😅😅🤣
Please make a video on how to prepare for HPCSA board exams as international trained graduates. Are there sites for past papers?, question style, exam structure and areas of focus. thank you So much, your channel is really informative ❤
Usually 6months into comserve posts start coming out for person to start in Jan. The process Usually takes long. 1 month for applications 2 months to shortlist Maybe 1 for interviews and candidate selection 1month to serve notice at old job
Hello Doctor. Thank you for the videos they were really informative. I'm currently in 2nd year but I got a Commserve post in NHLS and I'd like to know what is expected of me, how do the calls work? What are our responsibilities as Commserves if you know? Any information would be appreciated as I don't know what to expect.😊
Hi.... comserves don't do calls. They rotate through the different pathology specialties (Chempath, micro, and haem). The duration differs based on the dept. Some centers don't do rotations, so you'll stay in one dept. You'll have a great time. All the best 🥳🥳
I am currently doing my 2nd year internship and I put NHLS as my first choice for comm serve…I am so nervous because I have never been exposed to the LAB🙈🙉thank u so much for uploading such vids
All the best.... The comserve route is the best. You're going to enjoy it it's different. Try visit in the mean time just to see what it's about and the various specialties so that you find out what you like🤗
