Oh man! That ending had me laughing out loud for real. My dog Penelope was asleep and sprung up to see what the hell was wrong with me! Thanks for the video but most of all the laugh! :)

Thank you. I'm not sure if I have anything figured out yet, but I'm still out here flailing around trying. 🙃

    Hi Rob and Joelle,
Great Video, and excellent comments on tow vehicle capacity, towing vs payload. I think this topic if often misunderstood. I came across your channel because we are shopping for light "hitch weight" trailer for the exact reasons you mentioned. The Winnebago micro mini 2108 DS FLX dry hitch weight is listed as 404 lbs. and for its size that sounds pretty reasonable, but I can imagine the weight can increase quickly once you load up with cargo. I'm curious if you can share your loaded trailer hitch weight?
    Thanks
    Curt

Sure, not a problem. I am currently at around 780lbs. That's with a full tank of water when I went through the CAT scales. To be mindful of, please note the following.
      1) I upgraded my propane to 30lb tanks. I estimate this adds another 40 lbs or more to the promoted hitch weight.
      2) I have around 150lbs of solar panels installed ahead of the 1st axle. Most, if not all of this weight is coming down onto the hitch.
      3) I believe they likely are NOT promoting that hitch weight including the Lithionics battery installed by the factory. My battery weighs nearly 70lbs.
Just those alone put me near the weight I have now. The others are the clothing in the front of the rig, the 38lb propane generator up there in the storage. So on and so on.
I hope this helps. Please reach out to me further if you have any additional questions or want help or advice. Always here to help.

Enjoyed the video - very informative. I see you have 2 bikes mounted on the back bumper of your Micro-Minnie. I'm assuming you have a bolt-on receiver? Is the bumper and back frame strong enough to hold up? On another person's TH-cam video, he advised not to do this because of the bikes constantly bouncing, they may eventually cause the welds where the bumper is attached to break. If possible, we would like to mount 2 bikes on the back of our Micro-Minne because our pickup bed is only 5'. I have seen were someone recommended adding an extra cross brace in front of the bumper.

Great question. First, thanks for watching. We're glad you're here. I have a 2" Reese style receiver on the back of my unit that is attached to the FRAME of my rig, similar to a car style hitch. It is not mounted in any way to the back bumper. My FLX 2108DS came from the factory with this installed. It's listed as a Cargo Carrying hitch only with a max weight of 150LBs. It is really mounted on the frame very well. It's a BAS model and is both bolted and welded on.

as a over the road driver i have a different point of view of living on the road . a suggestion would be to rent a trailer first and live in it for a week . road life isnt for everyone , some people stop driving in 2 days from the basic fear of being away from everyone , so ge okay being alone . if you do get depressed there are Chapline services for fee . also if possible get a CDL you csn get grey work anywhere in America if you need to make a couple of grand fast. learn to live out of a backpack things break an that one pothole going across 40 in new mexico could but your rig in the shop . so off the hotel you go . carry around 1k in mixed bills POS systems go down more than you think and cash is king. Water Water carry more than you think you need people forget how bad weather is on the road. snow and flooding can stop you for days .extra fuel is a plus ive seen cars out of fuel do to traffic. hope this makes sense im bouncing down the road .
