Generally the access is given for as long as you need to get the files. I wouldn't say it's lifetime but I would also never cut you off ether. Which I think is fair. As for keeping things current.. I do have an update system on the drive for the first 16tbs of the setup. As this is where the bulk of the changes will take place. So really you won't need access to the original ftp once you have the base to stay current.
