Late comment but I am 99% sure that the last sketch you where talking about, the one that looked familiar, is copied, or sketched over a render by John O'Laughlin. He is a pretty popular and respected guy in the community. The rims are a dead giveaway I think. Any guy in the industry would sense that sketch was copied as the render technique and linestrokes didn't match the perspective and wheel design.
oh, i should do further research on that maybe. Thanks for additional information! It is so hard to understand today if it is inspired/heavily inspired/taken etc. So I can't blame someone directly but I get your point :)
