- The connections between Shrek and Manny are that they’re GCI movie protagonists from long running movie franchises that started in the early-2000’s, possessing five full-length movies (Shrek has Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek The Third, Shrek Forever After, and Shrek the Musical, whereas Manny has Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Ice Age: Continental Drift, and Ice Age: Collision Course), two holiday movie specials and was first introduced as loners with no family or friends because of humans (Shrek being judged for being a monster, and Manny having his family killed by hunters). They were anti-social, wanting nothing to do with others around them or those they helped because their lives were in trouble, especially with the unskilled, fun-bringing Deuteragonists that eventually becomes their best friends (Donkey and Sid, respectfully) that assists them in the first movie involving delivering someone to a leader of many followers (Fiona & Farquaad [Lord of a Kingdom] and Roshan & Runar [Leader of a Pack], respectfully). They would eventually fall for someone the same species as them (Fiona and Ellie, respectfully), who was sent another path from their parents for opposing reasons (Fiona was locked in a tower for her curse, and Ellie was separated from her pack and got lost in a snow-storm), and would have opposing problems to overcome about their appearance (Fiona being a Princess that turns into an Ogre at night for the curse placed on her, and Ellie being a Mammoth believing she was a Possum for how she was brought up). Both would obtain feline companions that was originally enemies that was going to kill them (Puss and Diego, respectfully), who on occasion fly solo and are the fast and more swifter counterparts to their brawn and tough protagonists. They would become fathers in their third movies and fully engaged by their second. Despite being prone to anger at times, both can be quite loving and caring for their family, and both even process great skills in fighting, survivability and leadership despite their lack of training, like with some of their world’s best (Puss ‘n’ Boots, Fiona, Captain Gutt, and Buck to name a few).

• Both are strong, brave and heroic characters of different ages (Medieval and The Ice Age) respectively.
• Both have brash and self-assured attitudes because they want to be left alone for different reasons (People saw Shrek as a monster and Manny lost his family to hunters)
• Both have annoying and yet hilarious best friends that helped them out on their adventures (Donkey and Sid the Sloth) and have feline companions (Puss in Boots and Diego) respectively.
