So painful, image your brother helping you with tampons after years of not knowing what is happening with your body. Mom's need to do better.

Mothers really have to start talking.
I am only 23 years old, and in 2011 when I was going to boarding school; my parents took me to the clinic to start contraceptives.
When we arrived at the clinic, the sister asked me if I am seeing boys. I was confused, but the innocent me said, "There are boys everywhere and I play with them." The nurse said to me that my mom cannot just bring me to the hospital without me playing with boys. Still I was confused.
My mother took me to her office and said to me, so and so arw taking injection, and I was like, okay.
The nurse and my mom, asked me to to pee in a cup and they did a pregnancy test. Then, they started me on depo.
Months past. In May, my period stopped. So, I heard people say when one is pregnant, periods stop and they get black line on the tummy.
I saw all those, I was scared. I went to my mom and explained to her she asked me if I was seeing boys. This time I was scared, sad, and angry. She laughed and told me I should not worry. Months past, the following year (2012), in May, my father came to fetch me from school to accompany me to the clinic. I was angry, and my attitude changed. He was feeling bad, and asked me whether my mother explained everything to me. I told him everything that happened from day 1.
When we got home, he told my mother, and she became angry, but this time I was not ready to have problems. I narrated everything, and they made me make my choice.
I decided I will stop contraceptives, because I did not even know why I was getting an injection. Besides, I was not even having sex by then.
I am 23, I have a 3 months son and my baby was planned.
      Mothers really must start talking

@@millymashile Oh my days. The talk needs to happen first and foremost. What about STDs😬?Rape, Defilement. Children need much more than the contraceptives. They need to be empowered. Have solid role models that they can look up to, build hope to help them chase their dreams.

Eish girl you can say that story of no one telling you of menstruation😥.. I remember the only person I saw menstruating was my aunt and I thought it was for older people. One relative asked me to go to stay with her which is about 3her away & ie when I started menstruating, I thought I was sick or something hurt me when I was urinating. The relative I stayed with ill treated me when she found out I started my menses, she said all sorts of accusations and mentioned something of me sleeping with boys and even beat me up for no reason .... she even said she will take me for prevention at the clinic, I told a guy who was staying in the same house whom they accused me of sleeping with... he told me not tell the relative when it happens next.. he helped me by cutting some cloth for me.. that year was the worst, I would stay up when it's my menstruation so that I will not stain her bed... this was so traumatic to a 14year old me... as a result I have decided no relative will ever stay with my own child it was so traumatic... I dont know where the guy is today but, I bless God for sending me an angel which is him to help me in the time of need... he really treated me well and as a child, never even in one day he tried funny things, he protected me even when I was outside from those silly boys...
Anyways, back to you sis... you're so strong my sister... all the best for the future... you're beautiful and you're worth all the good things from above, all the best♥️

How traumatizing 🤫at just 14yrs. Is that relative still alive? I would confront her now🤔Its very .imortant for parents, grannies or carers of girls to talk to them about body changes from 10 years. My experience was very similar. It was worse as i had 6 older sisters and they never told me what to expect until it started while i was at school and we had to stand up every time teacher enters or when you have to answer the teacher. My poor blue uniform was so soiled, blood on my chair and drops on the floor. I just couldnt understand what happened to me. Boys were laughing at me and i left and went home with my jersy tied around my waiste. Instead my mother started asking me about boys, whuch boy was with me then she sent me to a neighbour for their daughter to speak to me, The girl was like 17yrs and she is the one who told me what to do..using cottonwool as there were no sanitary towels then😍 my mother changed and every day she would accuse me of being with boys and how i will get pregnant🤭it was terrible.

The concept of ukbekezela in marriage is deeply entrenched. Funny how when umakoti is being told about marriage do's and donts, it is preached over and over again that it's between 2 people. Yet when she has left, everyone wants to have a say about ukbekezela knowing absolutely nothing about that particular union. Each one is different. Marriage has no formula.

We have to be careful the words we speak over our children , it’s extremely important .I can’t also believe at that age , you didn’t learn it from school , cus they usually teach in school about menstruation in social studies class from where I can from ,maybe it’s different in South Africa. Praise be to God that in schools kids are being taught but the conversation must start at home. When I had my 1st period my mother wasn't there (due to work) and I lived with my dad and he took me through the talk and how to use sanitary towels which I am grateful for, let's be there for our kids , let's be their teachers, best friends, teachers , motivators all this must begin at home.LETS do different

The Lord was with u every step of the way ladies let God bring the man of God to you not just a church goer or some one that has sweet beautiful words but a born again Christian man moreover God didn't allow u to conceive for that man because had he done that you would have felt obligated to stay story was inspiring and also an eye opener for abuse women every where thank u

Women, build yourself up first; it's like building a house. Then put a price on it before allowing anyone like a partner or husband to come in. If you know your worth, you cannot allow just anyone to come in. You will not build an expensive house and allow someone from the streets to come stay in it to destroy it so you wouldn't do that to yourself if you know your worth, your value. And by this I don't mean monetary but self-worth. When you do that, it might not be 100% but if he hits you the first time you'll know this person's purpose is to devalue you. And you wouldn't stand for it. Finally, love yourself and you won't be desperate for so-called love. Desperation always leads to disappointment. And listen when family and friends who love and care about you warn you about who you're choosing to be with. If you should still proceed, do so with caution.
