I love Chinatown. I feel like I'm with Jake, like one of his investigators, throughout the entire film and when it ends, I'm ready to start again...
This man is a genius in his field. He has very simple ideas which is the mark of a genius. He is able to get to the essence of a work of film and in this interview he even describes how, while focusing on a particular element, he is able to "cheat" by giving the audience hints without losing the essential focus of noir from the anti-hero's perspective. I really don't care about his sexual habits: this man should be making films.
Neo-noir* and Hard-boiled detective's perspective*
That's the same what he said once. That he wants that people (audience, viewers) do not look at his past but at his art work.
Truly said he had a very bad life and it's sad that he's not appreciated so much in the cinematography as much he deserves it just because of his mistakes (situation stupidity).
I appreciate him as an artist and film maker.
P.S: drugging and sodomizing a 13 year old as a 43 year old man can in no timeline be considered a "sexual preference."
i dont believe that its inherently wrong to enjoy and consume the art of someone who has done terrible things, John Lennon was a vile abusive man yet i do listen to the Beatles. Polanski on the other hand drugged and raped a 13 year old girl. Rape isnt a "sexual habit" and claiming that you dont care about it is utterly abhorrent and gives a glaring insight into the kind of person you are; the kind that will turn a blind eye to rape because you claim the man is a "genius". Punishment for ones crimes isnt exclusive to the poor and talentless, just because this man can make a good film should not change the fact that he should be locked away until the residue of "life" that is left within him seaps out. consuming the art of a rapist that was made before conviction is a subject that is up for debate but to support the further career of such a person is in my opinion of a form of direct support for his actions.
@@denisskenderovic3707 it is a preference but okaaay.
