Omg!!! Adventures in Odyssey!! I remember listening to that in the car with my brother and grandparents all the time as a kid. I recently thought about it but couldn't remember what it was called and nobody knew what it was when I tried to describe it. This makes my day!!!
Growing up we did a trip out west to a bunch of the National Parks and we had ALL the Adventures in Odyssey tapes to listen to while we drove! Also stoped by Focus on the Family in CO and they had a whole Adventures in Odyssey set up that you could walk around!

I bought a CD player so my 6 year old could listen to all the Adventures in Odyssey CDs my mom had kept from when I and my four siblings (all homeschooled!) were kids. She is especially captivated by an album called "The Truth Chronicles," which follow the heroic missions of Captain Absolutely. My sister still listens to Odysseys to fall asleep sometimes. She's also a fan of your content, John -- she'll get a kick out of this for sure. Love the podcast. Keep it up.

In today’s terms we call that power rape. David had her husband killed and “she lamented over her husband.” This was the low point of David’s life and the ultimate shirking of his responsibility to care for his people and his army. “DAVID’S sin displeased the Lord” (2 Samuel 11:27) and is what caused the death of their firstborn child. But yeah totally her fault for ritually bathing. I guess she was asking for it. 🤦🏼♀️

David as the king should have been at war, & wasn’t so Bathsheba may not have even known he was there; 2. Bathsheba was doing her ceremonial cleaning required by the law 3. Bathsheba just finished her bath & then all the sudden has soldiers at her door to take her to the king? Do you think she had a choice in sleeping with him? The Bible doesn’t talk about Bathsheba needing to repent, just David, so I think she was very much the victim in the situation.

Every indication in the story is that she is the victim and he’s the aggressor. 2 Samuel 11:1 says he should have been at war, but he stayed home. The same verse says she was bathing to purify herself. She’s being faithful to God, he’s not where he’s supposed to be. Verse 4 says he sent his servants and they TOOK her. There was no asking, this is a king making a demand. I find it hard to believe that with all the trouble you’ve had over the last few years you’d make a joke about this.
