It is up there with Supernatural Anesthetist from Genesis: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
      Here comes the supernatural anaesthetist.
If he wants you to snuff it,
All he has to do is puff it
      - He's such a fine dancer.

I was 1994 in the Concert at Niedersachsen Stadion in Germany! It was the best Concert I ever seen, I lost my Words till I at Home! @@kevinroot8938 For me it is the best Guitarplayer in the World, no one can play a cable guitar so emotionelly like David Gilmour! Pink Floyd have create many Songs that by Masterpieces, but for me "echoes" was the Song that is on Top off all. The lyrics and the composion are absolutely unmachted. It is the highest Piece of Art in Musikbuisness and History. When People listen to it in 100 Years, the will blown away, it is timeless. This Musik is from another World and tear out your Soul and penetrate it and but it back to your Body. I´m a Pink Floyd fan for decates and "echoes" is the Crown Jewel of the entire Music History. Absolutely exceptional.... No other Band can compare with Pink Floyd, they are the Gods of Musik, no one can withdraw you from reality , and get you in the mood to receive the feelings/emotions that their Songs express!

This is an incredibly difficult track to perform live.......the sound, the lights, the production, the stage direction, the film crew, the performance......everything is just mind blowing.......when a band performs and sounds better live than in the studio, you know that you have hit on genius

  • @Erfedwe
    @Erfedwe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

The Pulse Tour (saw them 5 times) was easily the best overall concert experience I have ever been to. I have been to over 150 concerts (almost all of them for major artists or bands) and Floyd's sound quality and light show are completely unmatched. One of my friends once commented at the end of the first half of a concert (they break for intermission) that he felt we seriously underpaid for our tickets and thought we should give them more money. And it was only halfway through the show! And as cool as that stage looks on video, it is nothing compared to being in the 15th row center where you are dwarfed by the stage, the lights and lasers all all going above your head and behind you, and you can feel the heat from the explosions, and when they hit a bass note so low and loud that you can't actually exhale until the note has subsided.

I could feel the heat from those fireballs all over my body as if I were right in front of them. And this is how they ended the FIRST HALF of the concert as they went intermission. I was at one those Earls Court shows and the last half of that song was completely over the top, it almost felt like too much at times. You could feel the heat and force from those explosions half way down the arena, I think at the end a lot of people where genuinely a bit stunned to be honest. Comfortably Numb always gets reviewed on TH-cam but actually it was this song, played just before the interval, that made you realise that you were seeing something really special.

First concert was the usual set list as you know it from the PULSE record while the second concert was the set list changed to the whole DSOTM. The crowd was always very different from concerts of other bands. As the whole was an experience of a lifetime and the crowd was aware of that people just sit there, enjoyed what they saw and heard and noone or only very few ones thought of jumping around. When I was 25 yo, it was the 20. Sepember 1994, I saw this concert in Rome Italy. When Pink Floyd performed this in the US, they traveled with 4 48' military grade mobile generators. There wasn't a stadium built with enough electrical input to run the show. That's what happens when you forget to give a budget figure to your lighting effects designer. And that sound comes from a 220,000 watt sound system. The glitter ball from "Comfortably Numb" was over 15ft in diameter, and the lasers were a new experimental design, and Pink Floyd cornered the entire world's supply at the time. For this Tour they had 3 separate stage sets - one in use, one being dismantled from the previous venue and one being set up at the next. They need 3-4 days to building on stage up 3 days for re-building. All in all, there was 700 tons of gear transported on 53 articulated trucks, with a road crew of 161and an initial investment of US$ 4 million plus US$ 25 million of running costs just to stage. They also used an Antonov military cargo plane plus 2 x cargo Boeing 747s. But it would all have been for nothing if the music wasn't also epic. Time, Sorrow, Wish You Were Here, One of These Days and the finale - Run Like Hell should all be on your reaction list.

This brought back memories of my first time hearing Pink Floyd. It was at a "party house" that I had NO BUSINESS being at, especially after midnight on a weekday! "Being there" was a life changing decision in sooo many ways! I was never the same in any way. Thank you my dear friend,
    John Martin! RIP. ❤🕊🙏

I'd seen Pink Floyd a few times before this 1994 concert. When this concert tour came to the San Francisco Bay Area at the Oakland Coliseum I waited in line for 3 days to get tickets. I got tickets for all 3 nights. On the 3rd night a low cloud cover was blowing in over the stadium and the laser lights would light up the clouds making for a whole new light show experience. Definitely one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I'm 73, and I may be old but I've seen all the cool bands... I have the DVD of this concert and it's something you should see in full.

One thing you can't experience from the video, but the sound system has speakers completely surrounding you. It was such an immersive experience. My mind was blown in so many ways.

It's great to see they were all having a great time playing. Everyone on stage are really good musicians and they played together on a few tours. Guy Pratt the bass player is much underrated!

We weren't chilled - we were stunned! The Floyd just pinned you to your seats from the first notes of SOYCD to the last note of Run Like Hell. And, no, I've never been the same - I think Gilmour changed me on a cellular level!

There used to be a Pink Floyd laser light show in San Francisco. Kids would get so stoned and lie down in the Planetarium and watch the entire concert. It is one of the single best times of my youth!

Nick Mason’s only vocal credit in the entire Pink Floyd catalogue: ‘One of these days, I’m going to cut you into little pieces.’
Gilmour was playing a ‘Lap steel’ or ‘pedal steel’ guitar with a slide in this song. This kind of guitar is specialised for playing slide guitar.

I'll remember the 4th September 1994 forever. Pink Floyd live in Belggim. It rained all mroning, then at 3PM, when the gates opened, the rain stopped. At 9PM, the band cam on stage and it was 3 hours of pure musical pleasure and unbelieavable lights in your face. How did I walk out of there? I didn't walk. I floated!

I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shock both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well.

I agree with you guys. Prague, Czech Republic, 94-probably the biggest visit of listeners on their tour. Around 150.000 people-open scene. No one was left without emotions ! Many did not go home to sleep... Life experience. Forever !

I watched this in CDMX back then. At the bathroom in my way out, I heard people talking: “y’know, I was there at Madonna, MJ, Elton John, Paul McCartney… but nothing like this”. The statement still true almost 30 years later.

They used a smaller stage in this video , in America I saw them at Cyclone Stadium at Iowa State University June 14,1994 and the stage looked the same but way bigger, it was 180 feet wide by 80 feet high i cant remember the depth but it might have been 80 feet also. They had over 300 speaker cabinets and surround sound. The circle of lights in the middle is moveable and can tilt forward almost to horizontal. The circle was 30 feet across and weighed 15 tons i think. That concert was soo good. Its the concert by which i judge all others!😄👍☮

I saw the pulse concert in werchtet in belgium and I brought my 13 year old son with me .He is now 40 years old and he still talks about it. If you want to see the ultimate version of this song , check out "live at pompei" ,it really highlights Nick Masons amazing drumming. At one point he loses a stick and takes a new one without missing a beat, mindboggeling.

Thank you for coming back to Pulse and watching this song so soon after doing "Sorrow". I knew, the two of you would LOVE LOVE LOVE this Masterpiece. I have noticed people talking about hardcore drugs and other intoxicants as the reason for the crowd being so chill. This concert series was performed when ¾ of Floyd fans were in their 30's or older. I will repeat a comment I read on a different reviewers page in his review if Sorrow; We went to these concerts EXPECTING a spectacle and the great bands dully obliged the fans wishes. I know that the concerts I go to I find that chilling to the music and letting every note, every beat to flow into and around, enveloping, every cell and molecule in my body to be THE WAY to truly live the show. Even Metallica, the most I think I did was nodding my head, no thrashing it all around.
I just love your responses to great music, you make this old man smile... Great job guys...

Dude, it might be because I'm high watching pink floyd reaction videos these quotes send me:
"This is insanity level beyond imagination"
    "You can't escape this trip"
"How did you walk out alive from that concert. HOW?"
    Such a good reaction guys.

One of these days try the Mona Lisa Twins' acoustic cover of "Wish You Were Here". Their covers of classic rock tunes are sensitive and honest. And they are sisters whose harmonies are absolutely spot on! Happy travels G&P.
