I love this country so much that I want to visit every place, eat every dish and talk with everybody. Without the doubt - Portugal is heaven on earth for me 🧡
My father served on that submarine. He was a portuguese navy sailor and retired as a sargent. Everytime i walk by on Cacilhas i see that submarine and that is part of my family history. My father hated serving in it, it was crowded and cramped. But whenever i see that submarine, now to become a museaum, i feel.a great sense of pride.
Big respect for your father 🇵🇹 I wanted to film the submarine but they did not allow it, I didn't understand why, but it would be amazing experience, since I've never been in one.
@@millionplacesoneworld the submarine is not yet open for the public. They sre still doung so work to prepare to be visited. One open i hope you visit it. I used to visit it when i was very young and there were open visiting days aboard for family of the crew. It is quite cramped inside snd gives you respect for what the crew endured.
Olá Andrejs, Here you are: José Elias Garcia (31 December 1830 - 21 June 1891) was a professor at the Army School, journalist, republican politician and engineering colonel in the Portuguese Army. He's from Cachilhas! :) I love those teal-coloured tiles on that building. The green and the teal really stand out. Those steep hills would have been fine a few years ago but I've got lower back issues so now I have to avoid them. I enjoy watching how friendly you are... I tend to be the same. Sometimes it takes people by surprise, in Portugal, but that's OK. I'd rather smile and say boa tarde, than look away! I am the same with cats & dogs. Who doesn't want to be greeted by a friendly animal? Portugal, land of Castles and Churches. That house, at 17:41 looked kind of crazy... like it could collapse from the bottom, any time. I do love a yellow house though! I will have to give Sardines a try when I get back to Portugal. I don't care for sardines & Tuna, normally... (I am much more of a Salmon & Haddock or Cod kind of girl) but I've promised myself I will at least give them a go. I love looking at old ships. My Mum's from the coastal town in England and my Grandfather and 2 of my Uncles were life-long naval people... in fact my Mum was in Sea-Rangers... kind of like Girl Guides of the ocean. I guess it's sort of in my blood. I am wondering if you had the pleasure of seeing the Tall Ships that were in Lisboa, beginning of September. I would have absolutely lost my mind (and had so much fun exploring all the ships)... The most impressive to me was the Mexican... but the Sagres wasn't there... it was delayed due to bad weather. Another fantastic video Andrejs. Obrigada ~
Wow, Jen ... this is the longest and most interesting comment of my channel history 💯👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Really enjoyed reading it, so much information. Thank you x100 🙂 Ok, speaking of sardines, if you like big pieces of fish fillet, probably you should eat sardines carefully, because I eat them with bones and if there are some organs or strange pieces I don't mind 😁😁😁 And I love tuna and cod, to be honest I never ate haddock. About Portuguese on the street, I feel they are bit shy, and also do not want to be on camera, that's why in India it was much more easier to interact with people. All restaurants where I filmed in Portugal, nobody ever asked me where I will post my video, I think they are happy about life and don't care much what Andre have to say about them. LOVE IT🙂🧡 About ships, this was first old ship I've been in...I think you and your Mum are much bigger experts than me in this field. About this ship, I have more material about it, it was super interesting, but this already is my longest video, so could not put all 🙂 Thank you for info on José, I will be honest, I read about him 😁😁😁 Muito, muito Obrigado for your comente, respeite 💯
Olá Andres- Yes, your channel is quickly becoming the PT Sardine channel. 😅😅 🐟🐟I didn’t get hungry this time watching your video as I decided to snack during my viewing. 👍🏻 We visited Almada in March 2023, took the ferry from Lisbon and the streetcar/tram up to Cova da Piedade. We walked down Av. Pereira. (We prefer to walk down hills-not up 🙃). We found some wonderful bakeries along the way and also found the Cacihas restaurant area near the ferry terminal. We didn’t eat there, however, since it was the wrong time of day. Our loss. ☹️ I agree with you that Almada and all towns on the south shore of the Tejo have great potential. 👋🏻
Hey, my friend 🙂 Always wait for your thoughts on video 😁 I promise I will try other dishes , not only sardines 🤣 You are snacking on sardines also? 😁 It's good to hear that you already been here, but you've seen that location is just amazing, little bit investment and work and it would beat lots and lots of other parts of Lisbon/Portugal. Because yes, lots of buildings are near collapse, so Almada needs some big $$$ coming in and it will give back times 100. Thank you once more 👍🏼💯
Here I live since 2000, in a village called Caparica Almada is the city, Cacilhas is the river port Miradouro do Castelo and Cerca House are the best spots to see Lisbon Next time, to eat try Casa Maritima in Trafaria, u can catch a boat from Lisbon in Belem, near the train station. To visit the Capuchos Convent in Caparica witha great view to the beaches, and a beatiful garden with a small chapel made with shells from the beach.
Noted, will make episode about Trafaria and Caparica, thank you for suggestion. But Trafaria is seperate from Almada and together with Caparica or I'm mixing up something?
Hi Andres. Come visit Setubal. You only need to take the Fertagus train in Lisbon (9,20€ back and forth) In the old town of the city you will find so much potencial to.
@@millionplacesoneworld , To come to Setubal you don't need to take the Ferry. You only need the Ferry when at Setubal you want to visit Tróia in the other side of river Sado.
Cacilhas is where you step out of the ferry from Lisboa. Though technically you were already in Cacilhas even when you were asking directions as its a parish of some size. Its hard to find the demarkation between Cacilhas and Almada as both form an uniform urban spraw together eith Pragal and Cova da Piedade.
In the end I realized where is Cacilhas 🙂 Thank you for all your comments and suggestion to come here, in my other episode I completely missed this place. Muito Obrigado, Amigo 💯🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
Pica Pau is a type of dish we in Portugal call a petisco. Petiscos are small dishes for you to eat inbetween meals preferably in company of friends having a chat while eating served eithba nice cool beer - an imperial or a caneca. The spanish equivalent are the tapas but the portuguese petiscos are more varied and tasty.
Now I will know everything about Portuguese cousine 😅 Thank you Amigo💯 Imperial and Caneca, it is the brand? Because I always order beer and waiter aska caneca? I thought it is beer not from the bottle but from tap
When eating sardinhas with boiled potatoes you should sprinkle the potatoes with a bit of vinegar and olive oil for added flavour. Many portuguese l9ve to put a sardine over a slice of bread so that the bread soaks the juices from the sardine and then eat the bread, its delicious. Grilled sardinhas should always be served with a salad made of lettuce, fresh onion rings, sliced tomato and grilled pepperoni, all sprinked with vinegar znd olive oil at your discretion. Thst's the complete dish.
Appreciate your comments, because you give me real knowledge about how food should be prepared, because most of the times, I'm trying food for the first time 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
