"Das ist nun einmal so" [That's Just the Way It Is] is a humorous German song from 1939 about soldiering, fucusing mostly on those not-so-much-fun moments of the daily life in the barracks. It originally had six strophes, the 1st and the 2nd were recorded here.

Oh, at the time international record companies produced recordings for foreign market all the time. You will find, for example, many British recordings on III Reich records as well. Many recordings were also recorded for foreign market exclusively and never released in the country of its origin.
Herms Niel's composition performed as it should be performed! A masculine and enthusiastic chorus with the Carl Woitschach Blasorchester.
Contrast this with the emasculated, muted Bundeswehr renditions of Herms Niel's songs. No contest! I'd rather listen to a FULL, MALE VOCAL, chorus than listen to the terrible muted 'songs' that are performed today. If you listen to performances of 'Erika', 'Es War Ein Edelweiss' and 'Tschingta Tschingta, Bummtara!' that are performed by the modern German Army well, they're rubbish. Awful.
I believe that the singing category of 'castrato' was abolished in the 1920's. Today it is alive and well in the Bundeswehr!
