Absolutely excellent advice Alex and this is a terrific method for getting the right feel of the entire sequence. Moving slower while doing drills allows the brain to digest intentional flows in direction and the sensation of space. Moving quickly forces dynamic reaction which will ALWAYS go back to what the brain senses as a trigger to repeat what it’s been delivering regularly at that speed. Moving slowly through physical training literally signals the brain that it’s learning a design intention. That is a scientifically proven fact and REALLY cool stuff. When you move slowly with these swing drills and incrementally increase your speed, you are telling the brain “This path, this sequence, increasing in speed.” If you do exactly as Alex has directed with the mental intention focused in this way, this methodology is extremely effective. Surprisingly effective actually. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Alex, I feel that with all swings, "TEMPO" is King! Whether the swing is fast or slow, one has to have everything going in the right direction at the same time. As you pointed out though Alex, slow is better than fast because it allows everything to line up and moving in the same direction at the same time! Well Done As Always Alex!
Great tip Alex. I will definitely use this. It’s Thanksgiving in the US this week. I am thankful for finding your channel. You have helped me immensely. Keep it up!
Thanks, Alex. The hardest part is when you are on the course with your group and the “default” speed wants to take over. But I’ve been striking straighter and farther if I can resist the urge to rush.
Will have to try this, especially when my driver is not working well at all. Today I slowed down my swing on some holes and was hitting some good drives.
I’ve come to this conclusion recently on my own. Staying in control really helps. Nice to see on Alex’s video still. I got a DeWiz watch and the tempo mode was really helpful.
Yep... Im using this drill with my Hackmotion .. getting much better contact and straighter ball flight .. Ive notice going slow in the back swing gives you more time and creates better/more lag when transitioning and moving forward.@@AlexElliottGolf
I get what you are saying. I'm a professional drummer and I understand that I can hit a drum with good technique and get more sound and be more relaxed than someone smacking the drum as hard as they can. I get that, but in golf mentally, I feel like I need to try to crush it. LOL
Coach, I tried and I tried more and more but I can’t. Your swing is so smooth and “silky” it seems so easy ! But it’s not true 😅😅 I swing with so much effort and my distance is ridiculous 😭
I think a lot of golfers are probably not inside the 6 inch wall on the downswing which leads to not compressing the ball. See world class golfs Craig hansons videos, I’ve learnt a lot from them no disrespect to Alex as his videos are great too. Do this and you will be amazed. When youtube videos say, they never tell you this, this very much applies.
The weight shift in transition near the top of the back swing, most vitally important, which achieves the 6 inches inside the wall. Then swing the club through using the torso and shallowing the plane, but clearing the knee as well. Ive looked at shefflers transition and you get a real good idea of that. 👍
I can't wrap my head around the fact that you hit the ball at such a slow swing and still get 260 carry. I can barely get 230 on a full swing. I'm not saying that you didn't, but I've been fooled too many times when it comes to TH-cam videos that are rigged that it makes it hard to believe at times. I almost need to be there in person to see it and to make sure that the number on the monitor wasn't already there before you hit it. Just a frustrated golfer that is having a hard time getting much distance out of my drives. I still follow you though.
Hi! My distans is equal to yours. At full speed I have around 93mph clubhead speed. If this works, i will be superglad. I am going to try this drill out at my next practice session 😊
I bought a new driver a couple of years back, finally hitting it really b well this year. I sincerely can tell you without a doubt that the slower I swing the further my ball goes. I also use the same ball he is using. If I try to smash it,I either slice, pull or go short
It’s all about energy transfer. I recommend you re-search where the professionals hands are moving the fastest in the golf swing and when the hands start to slow down. That is how you really get speed into the clubhead. You’ll be surprised to learn that the hands are actually going their fastest at the right hip! 10-17 inches before impact. When the hands begin to DEcelerate from there, the clubhead accelerates. That’s how the energy flow works in the golf swing and 99% of golfers don’t even know it. Most guess the hands are moving their fastest at impact or even after. They are wrong. Start with that realization and you get the energy to flow properly in your golf swing. Good luck.
Looks like a lot of filming sessions are in order this winter. I'm able to use my basement and a sim to help me. I would be happy just carrying 250. I would think another 20-30 yards might be pushing it but if I find where I can improve my swing I should be able to get close.
*FEEL the tension build! This is by far the best drill to build confidence in your golf swing*
Alex, I love this, a light bulb went on in my brain! THANK YOU
Tempo is everything in the golf swing. One of the best training videos I’ve seen period. Great job Alex.

Great process…I’ve done the gear 1 thing a bunch lately…I call it golf tai chi….I’ve not done the gears 2 and 3…I’ll have to add that in! Thanks!

Great Video Alex! It's definitely a routine i and all golfers should do to get more distance and control
What was the clubhead speed on gear 3 and 4? Those were remarkable distances given the apparent relative ease of swing.
Had the exact question in my mind :)
This is what I needed today Alex cheers great drill 👌
Two fantastic drives yhere Alex. You're the man
Will try it tomorrow, will be my first 9 hole since total hip replacement surgery start of August. Hopefully will improve.
Good luck Robert. Take it easy!!
As a senior woman with a slower swing speed, would the Vice balls work for me as well? Love your videos!
Best tip yet on Driver for me 😮
Glad it helped
Les!
looks so good
This is the best thing I ever did for my swing
Love to hear!!!

Love it ,so im thinking its like feeling your winding up like a rubber band.
Well done alex 🏌♂️ 👏 can you do this with the irons 😊
For sure. Great question Roy!!
Great video. Going to try it out tonight at the range! Thanks

Yep, when l slow down l hit the crap out of the ball and never get stuck! I'm trying to get use to it

You can do it!
How do you stop
Toppin the ball
Great question. Keep your eyes on the channel
Watch one of his other videos that explains how to stop topping the ball.

I get my best drives at 90% speed.
Yeah all the pros do it this way 🤣😄😅😄😃😂.

He said it was total not carry.
I Alex's videos. I'm just a bit worried that he might have smelly feet, because he doesn't appear to ve wearing any sox.😅😂🥴
