Same problem here, picked up a 2021 platinum and the sound sucks, no bass at all. My 2016 tacoma limited with the JBL and subwoofer all stock is night and day difference for the better, i don’t know what happened with the tundra premium line up!
I have a 2008 Tundra DC with JBL non Nav. CD is starting to skip. I'm looking at head units with Nav, DVD, BT, steering wheel controls... Two camera inputs desired so I can run a front camera. I will keep the factory subwoofer enclosure but install an 8" sub into it. The rest of the speakers I will leave stock JBL for now. I will be using your amp setup and crossovers. I'm looking for a descent head unit, I was thinking Pioneer.
by adding an better amp to the front and door speakers,, the jbl speakers wont be able to handle it higher amp and will blow my stock jbl speakers,, is that true?
I have a stock 2016 Toyota Tundra 1794 with the JBL system. For some reason, the unit works but no sound, whether radio, XM, navigation, Bluetooth, whatever. I have checked and changed the fuses but still no sound. Any clues as to what my problem is?
Is there a video specific to the 2008 tundra with jbl system? My jbl screen has faded and has ring artifacts “burned in” to the pixels. Make it impossible to see backup camera. Also the speakers sound horrible. I am hoping to do a plug and play upgrade of all 4 doors speakers ( possibly every speaker entirely). And a new head unit. Please advise. Thankyou

I've heard the dash speakers and some tweeters are directly powered from the head unit? Would like to have an option other than upgrading the entire system... I wired a Pioneer sub in series to feed more power back to it, that has made the biggest difference, but also looking to disconnect dash speakers as they're too loud than the rest of the system. You don't feel like you're "in" the sound with those blaring in your face.
Howdy . . thanks for the questions / inquiry . . IN the JBL equipped Tundra all the speakers/tweeters/sub are powered from the JBL amp. In the NON JBL equipped Tundra the dash speakers and rear door tweeters are powered by the head unit. @@tacotunes So disconnect L&R dash speakers and upgrade door speakers to dual voice and wire them series to get your impedance back up to where it needs to be. Why do JBL owners have to upgrade the entire package?
@@BR-kj3fp If you get a chance, please review the entire video . . it explains in detail why we swap the entire system. Many customers try to “piece mill” the JBL system and then end up with a huge mess. We have to repair JBL “upgrades” pretty often - we have one in the shop right now. We will post pics on our FB page in few days. . BTW, if you replace the front door speakers in the JBL equipped Tundra … the JBL amp has modified the signal (HPF/LPF/BP) and you will not get good results from a set of coaxial speakers. . . If you get a chance, check out our FB page . . . you will see we have done more Tundra audio upgrades than all shops combined. 😊
I just got a 2019 Tundra Platinum and I am not impressed with the JBL system. The stock stereo in my 2018 SR5 sounded much better and louder. In addition to the volume being too low and not even hearing the sub, I hear very little difference when adjusting the EQ. How can this system be so bad? Even fading is disappointing. The rear has very little power driving the speakers. Looks like I might be making a trip to San Antonio?!
Will this set up work with 2016 land cruiser? It's all JBL. Dont want to get rid of my head unit but want more power to the speakers. Please let me know.

I can turn the volume up on the HU, however the better more crisp amplified sound is not there. If I change the song or station on my phone, the volume returned for a second or two and immediately reduces back down. I've checked the fuses on fuse box, wiring (amp under the seat excluded). Any idea what the issue may be? Thanks in advance.
