    Can we please acknowledge and appreciate Erin’s PRACTICAL hair solution?! She’s rocking it in all her videos and I love her for that.
    It’s such a huge pet peeve to see folks out here cooking/baking with long hair hanging down unrestrained. No one wants to eat your lovely locks, and if you don’t tame those tresses they will end up in your food. THANK YOU Erin for repping a responsible approach to follicle management in the kitchen

    • @blazedroots
      @blazedroots 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How many times have you eaten a TH-camrs hair? Would NEVER be accurate? Maybe you should lighten up about things that will never affect you, you'll be happier in life.

    • @ctrlaltdeviant
      @ctrlaltdeviant 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@blazedroots I certainly don't know many TH-camrs personally, but they generally are considered humans. I've met lots of those, and they all shed hair. That affects me and everyone else that eats food pretty darn directly. Those follicles end up falling into the food being prepped, and most folks don't enjoy getting a long piece of hair (however attractive it may be) stuck in their throat. The goal of most culinary instructional videos (on TH-cam or anywhere else) is to be educational, and it follows that encouraging good kitchen hygiene should be part of that. Erin is doing so, and I'm recognizing/celebrating that. If that offended you for some reason (???), that is unfortunate.

    When a nurse sees someone’s arm that has great veins to do IVs in, we react the SAME way Erin reacts to flaky pastry dough. I smiled the whole time watching Erin’s reaction and would definitely vote for the ‘internal drizzle’ of icing for each and every mouth watering bite. Well done, Erin. Well done.

    • @willow2086
      @willow2086 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love your IV analogy. Ending up with flaky pastry = your patient has garden hose for veins.
      I'd also say a pastry with a burst seal=an IV that infiltrates.

    My mom was the same--no packaged baked goods for us. I had my first toaster strudel at my aunt's house the summer after 6th grade. My brother and I ate the whole package in one sitting (Aunt Sue was shocked). My favorite was the cinnamon roll variety. I imagine it would just be cinnamon, sugar, and butter for the filling? I'm going to have to try. Thanks for the inspiration!

    The texture that Erin achieves using the technique of pan frying before baking really reminds me of flour tortillas after they have been both fried and cooked or slathered in a salsa. The action of steam and water (from the sauce or salsa) gives it a tenderness and chew while the hot fat provides crispness and shatter. Not unlike a croissant but so, so much less prep.

    So Pillsbury changed the flavor of the cherry toaster strudel lately and it tastes like fruit punch now, so I'm thinking that I could maybe take standard cherry pie filling and blitz primarily the cherries and use that as a filling. The problem is how many flavors I have in my head that are so specific to what I'm craving, from childhood or even early adulthood, but shows like yours are so helpful in giving me more confidence (and knowledge) to experiment a little more. Love it! I'm also trying to figure out a way to make the bacon and eggs one happen, but I might need to try one again first since I'm pretty sure the pastry is a wee bit different. Anyway, thanks for this and all your videos. We share a name, so I'll have to write Erin in icing on one of mine as well in solidarity. ;)

When I was 5, my Mom saw these beautiful, big oatmeal cookies (5” diameter maybe?) in the kitchen of our next door neighbor, on the way back my Mom wished we could have tasted one…so I went by myself to ask the neighbor for one, she was generous to give several…I thought my Mom would be happy…but she was shy and embarrassed that I had asked for the cookies…my Mom walked me back to the neighbor’s door…she said ‘Thank You!’ But then made me return the cookies back. To this day I wonder what those cookies tasted like LOL! So glad Erin’s neighbor was so sweet, kind and caring!

    Would lightly docking the pastry with a fork allow it to vent a bit without the filling leaking out? It seems like it would work in theory but I don't know if the shallow fry would interfere with that.
