Hello! Right... I like to make history fun because I know some of you will think "*YAWN... Boring!", which is understandable I guess. Dull history teacher at school, anyone? 😅 So here's a short, sweet and light-hearted tale of one of Scotland's most historically colourful figures! Spoiler alert... I don't take it toooo seriously all the time haha Thank you for listening and also - I lied! Nearly 60% of you who listen are NOT SUBSCRIBED! SIXTY! My mind, body and soul are aflame with sorrow.. 😘 In all seriousness, if you are reading this and you're yet to subscribe, it would be so so good if you were able to. It would do more difference than you maybe know. Thank you, so very much. Sam x
Thanks Sam, sorry I corrected you on Loch Leven , it's just that I live in Kinross which is a nice wee town. Nicer than Leven 😆 I'm fairly new to your Channel, which I love a d thought I had subscribed. Will do it now. Yes, I know you don't take your History stories seriously and really like your droll sense of humour. I love your gentle , highland brogue. That might be a shoe actually.Your gentle Lilt. It is very soporific. I'm sure that's right. I also love your healing meditation's. I always look forward to curling up in bed and drifting off to sleep, under your spell 🪄 🌌💓
Every night I’m finding new stories I haven’t seen before. I look forward to going to bed- it’s been years of struggling. These stop my mind from spinning and are just so relaxing. I’m so grateful.
History teacher who had a boring teacher in high school. I love history. I lost my 21 year old son five and a half years ago and have a lot of trouble sleeping. I listen to sleep stories, rain, storms, ocean, etc but was thrilled to find Snooze with Sam. I usually fall asleep before the story gets too far so I listen to them over and over.
All I knew about Mary, Queen of Scots was her name. If her life was taught in a history class, I wasn't listening. So thank you for bringing her to life, tragic as it was. I like to think that her son moved her body to England in a dry, payback sort of way. Something Mary would have appreciated. "A bit of chit chat."
I love history and am trying to wind down with these instead of my typical true crime lol. Thank you for making these videos. As an American with Scottish & Northern England roots I love being able to "travel" & "time travel" through learning.
Ooooo I love fun history!! I actually like stories based on true things the most. Thank you for this Sam! Rare for me to be looking forward to bedtime but tonight I am❤️
@@SnoozewithSam it did!! Very much so, thank you! I would love more of these, although I was getting close to getting up, grabbing paper & pen, & creating a family tree type flow chart to keep track😄. Hope you’re well too Sam, thank you again…..for everything.
History was never my strong point back all those lightyears ago when I went to school. Yes, very boring teacher! But also, I never did this bit as I was not educated in UK. However, I love historical novels and films, and THIS is just something else!! Brilliant, thank you Sam!
I think I needed seven attempts to complete your story - a well rested thank you for many, many hours of deep sleep. When I finally reached "a few more interesting facts..." they were drowned by the waves and I had to go for a pee ... thanks nevertheless, Sam. nettie🦉
The palace doesn't have a spire on it, that's the church right next to it. The palace is still there and preserved but isn't a perfect preservation, it fell into a lot of disrepair. Still a good visit and beautiful over the loch. I lived in Linlithgow for 4 years, and used to walk up to the palace on my lunch break!
Hannah, you are quite right. I was writing from recent-yet-vague memory and I kind of sling the whole lot together: my apologies! But to be honest, when I say 'perfectly' preserved, I use that term loosely haha when compared to lots of Scotland's ruined castles, it's no too shabby. Happily stand corrected! I should've written better though - my sister lives there haha S x
I'm not into history. I actually prefer your scenic/environment type stories. But this one was quite interesting and I learned a lot. I also laughed a lot....I dig your sense of humor Sam. Well done, as always.
Oh sam, this was lovely, I was picturing Saoirse & Margot as the 2 queens, so visually that helped. Put me to sleep with dreams of knights & ladies. Thank you once more for a magical story & ever so sweet slumber. I love the family you have here of regular fans!
They are quite the wonderful 'modern' actresses to play the parts, even if just from a visual perspective! Thank you Lori (from temecula CA ;) ), I agree with you. I'm a very lucky guy. S x
I enjoy learning about Scottlands history especially since it is the one place I want to visit most of all! Mary has been my favorite to learn about since I first discovered her in the tv show "Reign." While watching the show, I'd have to go on the internet and compare what really happened. Enjoyed this story so much!
I enjoyed this one, I love that Royal families with all of their pomp and circumstance, all the prime and properness almost always seem to hide some of the most scandalous and outlandish secrets
This is precisely it. IMAGINE if it were the same these days (well, for politics it is, which is the power equivalent in modern times). There's a woodpecker on my birdfeeder. Nice. S x

I was already familiar with Mary's story, but your observations and humor breathed fresh life into the old stories. 👍🏴💙 Some of the family members were real royal PAINS, weren't they?!! Too kind, Ellen. Thank you. A very good question! I didn't come across any obvious answers in my research, however I'd be curious too. It's easy to see Mary as a victim, however like many people in a 'power position' of a time, I think everyone had a bit of a dark side. Product of survival I guess. S x
