I built the exact same model back in the early 90's. The kit has changed a bit over the years, but not too much. The level of detail that you have achieved is absolutely astonishing. I most particularly admire how you made all the seams disappear with filler. What an outstanding job. This build was a joy to watch!
You had the right idea with filling and sanding the front end, I've seen some nice examples of this kit made but that gap is left there (Which the full scale car never had) Stunning work.
The Sauber-Merecedes C9 made it's appearances in Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 6, Gran Turismo Sport, and soon, Gran Turismo 7. You've been so precise and accurate building this model of The Silver Arrow. 👌👌
I love the build mate, great job. I wanted to ask why do you and many other builders mark the top corner with a sharpie. Thanx for sharing this build video
Thank you, appreciate it. The reason why we mark it with a sharpie is because we mark the seam line when the plastic was molded together. So to get rid of the lines, we mark it and sand it down afterwards.
Thanks mate!! I actually took a lot of my ideas for angles from your videos mate and decided not to do voice over this time. Excited to see whats next on your bench!!
@@autostradamacchina awesome! I’m glad to hear that bud. I’m happy to see that each video has new exiting things to watch. I will be back with more soon. Took a pause again unfortunately 😩.
@@autostradamacchina could you let me know which scale motorsport set you used for this please? The one on their website seems to be for different Tamiya kit numbers. Thanks 👍🏻😃
Thanks for sharing the excellent modeling tips. In video 13:41, what is the brand and product number of the seat belt? And in video 4:39, how many layers did you apply the gloss paint?
Thank you - the seatbelts was left over from a hobby design set I already had. The clear I applied 1x normal layer and 1x heavily thinned layer. I didnt want the clear coat to display too think on the model
Nice work, good looking model. Can I ask what brand of paint you use for the body and the clear coats and what pressure you spray at please. I use the Zero paints system but you appear to spray at a higher pressure than I do, tho it could just be how it looks on video. Anyway, nice video and superb model kit. I'm subscribed and like and looking forward to seeing more.
David I love this kind of feedback, Thanks!! So for primer I use Mr Hobby 1500, grey in this case, paint I used was the Zero paints ZP-1634, its the Merc Sauber specific colour, clear on this one was also Mr Hobby GX100, I used to use ZP 2k, but its too thick on a race car in my opinion. For pressure I spray at 2bar, but I do adjust the paint amount being released from the gun depending on how much I want to release, for ZP i make it less paint to try and not get orange peel, is a struggle with zero, but it sounds like you’ve had the same issue too. What pressure do you spray at?
@@autostradamacchina I'm spraying at around 1.5bar when I use Zero, I've not really had a problem with finish. Just interesting to see how you do it. Do you feel that running at 2 bar helps reduce orange peel? I use Halfords automotive primer as my base coats and then the Zero colour and I'm trying the 2pack clear again on my current build, Tamiya Lotus 107.
@@davidfisher5507 spraying at 2 I think gives me better coverage. With my setup I've had some issues with an unevern finish. Buuut that could also be my spraying skills.. the 107 is a beautiful looking kit. that colour scheme looks like it might be a pain in the ass to get right
@@autostradamacchina I've masked and painted all the colours and I'm applying CF decals on the chassis sides where necessary. Happy with it so far. I really enjoy masking complex livery's. Your spray set up looks nice from what I can see in the video. A future video idea could be a workbench guide, show the tools/equipment etc. It's always nice to see how other modellers are set up. Good to learn from. I might up the pressure a little when I spray next time, see how it works, on scrap plastic first obviously.
@@davidfisher5507 thanks for the tip, yeah might do something like that in the future for sure. I've primarily learn from youtube myself (started the hobby last year) so is definitely. I managed to get the Ferrari SF70H recently, so will be building that in a couple of videos from now. No engine detail on that one though, but hoping to do it justice

This is an awesome build, would you mind telling which color u have used for the body ? I’m now on this model too, I had a wrong color and have to strip it. Need some idea for my repaint model. 🙏🏿
Great build man. I built this kit many, many years ago - before the upgrade carbon fiber decals and photo etch parts were available or known to me. Can you tell me what you are spraying on the tires after sanding the molding seams off (18:39 ish) and after the decals are installed (19:20 ish)? Appreciate you taking the time to video this - thank you...
Awesome thanks man - um so at 18:39 I spray the tyres with Tamiya's Rubber black, and after the decals I spray a flat clear. Personally I like the affect it has, you basically cant see its a decal on the tyre once thats done, looks painted on

Thanks Mika, generally I would estimate the total build probably takes around 50-60hours, depending on how much extra you do on top of the standard out of the box build
Some good some bad.. You really need to work on the parting lines and detail work. You can still see the parting line on the engine for example.. Lots of other details are also showing that wouldn't be on the real car.
Wow... Wierd... What are those stickers... I never seen ones like that... They don't even look like stickers or something... U put them in water... I don't think I ever seen that kind in a model kit
