Exactly, even though I don't wear a lifejacket I been swimming since I was 3 and have full swimming qualifications but you still see people going out into rivers knowing not how to swim and end up killing themselves
Thankfully for me I can swim really well. Marine veteran swim 1. But rushing shallow water still wear something because I can’t swim if I’m unconscious.
So... I’m used to finding things where I can’t see even an inch in front of me (commercial diver). If you need to attempt a quick rescue where you can’t see someone, starfish on the bottom of the water you’re in. Keep moving your arms like you’re making a snow angel. You will be surprised how quick you can find something small like a socket for a wrench with this method. It’ll be the quickest way to cover ground underwater when you’re trying to find someone quickly. Figured I’d give this bit of advice in case something were to happen with you diving around that many people. Make sure your octo is up to date and good, even if someone can’t dive or is passed out you can give them a line to breathe on back to surface. Make sure you grab them and don’t let them mess themselves up. and it might be worth while to take a rescue diver certification to help people if it were to come to it. Good luck in your finds and stay safe!
I love that you are promoting water safety. Also let parents know to get bright colored swim suits. They are easier to see then dark colored ones. Dark browns, blues, and greens are harder to find in water. A bright red, pink yellow or orange could be the difference between finding the child quick enough to save them.

I just watched this for the second time. A lot of kids look up to you Jake. A fun time can turn tragic in an instant. If one person listens to you and wears a life jacket it was well worth the time you took out of your video to encourage the use of them. As a lifelong lifeguard . I can’t believe the number of people that go in the water knowing they can’t swim and don’t wear a life jacket !
