In this instance, these guys go back and forth a few times with raises and calls - I thought once the first person raised it and another called & raised again, the only option when it comes back to the first person is to call the previous raise or fold, and that they couldn't raise _again_ in the same 'play' or 'round'. I'm not an aficionado of poker - is that a variant on the rules or perhaps a house rule in this movie?
It seemed like Kurt Russell's character was raising in order to intimidate the other guy and get him to fold. After all, he called and raised to make him think he had a monster hand
@@kostarizo5986 from what appears on my screen he had a really shity hand compared to the possibilities on the table, and doing this bluff on the river makes no sense after a raise, he is a really bad poker player.
Looks like Douglas character is a really bad poker player. Apparently the cards change during the take, possibly a production error. Nevertheless,in both scnearios, from what appears to me in my screen, all he had was a pair of 5 (or three of a kind) going againsts bigger pairs/three of a kind and a straight also.

They are playing texas holdem where the stakes are unlimited, no limit of rise until one make call or fold.
