Nice to see some locals fishing my area. I am in Derby I fish a lot in the Southern Tier Clear Creek , Big Sister, Catt Creek . I also launch my boat at Sturgeon Point for walleye ,keep on fishing my friend
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo I waited a while to get the boat it is an oldie but a goodie, maybe I could take you and your dad and you can do one of your YT shows on my boat ,got my own YT channel but haven't done a lot with it yet
Love the channel man. Question, when your float fishing the lower how long is your line below your float when in the water? Like if the waters 10 feet deep do you change your float stopper & raise it higher? If that makes any sense.
Thanks man! It all depends on the spot, usually a good rule of thumb is to start off floating 8ft. If you don't hit bottom go to 9ft, if you don't hit bottom go to 10ft. Once you get hung up on the bottom move up one foot and you should be good u
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo thanks a lot man! Also what’s the weight on those homemade spinners of yours? I see you guys get a lot of action on those. Thanks!
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo Im sorry about all the questions, but would I be ok using braided line for main & fluro for my leader? Right now I use regular 12 lb fluro on my set up & broke off 6 times this morning down in the lower. I’m thinking I don’t have the right diameter & strength. Any recommendations? Thanks again & sorry to blow you up!
@@fishingaddict4657 hahaha don't worry about it lol. I usually stick to fluro for the main line because when it's below freezing the water absorbs into the braid and freezes, making it almost impossible to cast. My spinning rod is spoiled up with 15lb fluro with 10lb fluro leader. Too reduced brake offs I like to keep my rod tip as high as possible to keep the line away from the rocks. Also just take your time and don't get excited, bcuz when you get excited all your training leaves your memory and you panic. You just gotta tire the fish out, if it's sitting in the current just let it sit there, it will tired itself out. And lasty know it's not gonna come in in 30seconds to be patient. I think that just about covers it 😂
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo lots of spots but they are not easy to get to and are technically trespassing. And all of the good spots are usually filled up by 3am on peak season
Great video man. Shout out to pops, the real MVP. That climb back out of the gorge is not for the weak.
Thanks, definitely a tough hike 👍👍
this place is so familiar to me. we used go be fishing under the dam when I was doing my Ph.d. in Suny Buffalo. I really miss fishing over there
It's a great place to be, hopefully you can come back one day!🎣

Great video!
You put a lot of effort in just to get to that spot,!
Does the water ever come up when you are down there?
Thanks Jim! Not really maybe a foot at most, even if it did you could easily get to higher ground 👍

For sure I'll let you know👍
You running 1/2 or 3/4 oz floats in the gorge? Downriver I've found that 1/2 oz is about as light as I can go to get to the bottom quickly enough.
I use 20g, which is just under 3/4oz 👍
Have you caught Lakers down there in the spring??
Oh yea, got a laker video coming up soon👍
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo nice man I absolutely love fishing that river but never have in the spring

Skein Cane HD
Hi! It's a great video. Can I ask for the location you went to in this video?
Thanks man, it's the lower Niagara river👍
How do you like that colville reel they are so smooth
Totally worth the upgrade, the textured rim is also amazing
Which Riverside rod are you using and Line?
9ft medium action, 15 lb fluro
what time did you get at niagara for? im goin g this weekend and i was wondering if its a good time to catch trout!
This was from about a month ago, but they should still be there👍
Do you fish on Canadian side!?
Nah, just the US side
Great video I really enjoyed it and it looks awesome quality I do some myself as well 😊 and then get lines 🎣
Appreciate it👍
Your dads drinking a Timmies, are you in Ontario?
No NY, there's actually a lot of Tims in Western New York
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo What’s better for Wallaye? The upper or lower Niagara river.
There both pretty good, I usually hit the upper in the spring and lower in the fall 👍
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo ok thanks, I don’t have a boat, will I need waders?
When the water gets colder yes, otherwise in the summer you don't really need them if you don't mind getting wet
The American side is sooo much nicer looks like an easier walk to
Yea tons of access, I take it there's not many spots on canada side?
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo lots of spots but they are not easy to get to and are technically trespassing. And all of the good spots are usually filled up by 3am on peak season
Got the last parking and left with a good amount of fish
Oh yea, most of the people were just walkers which was good
I love it that you guys have a specific name for them... I don't blame you I would too with that much fish down there only if they knew
