Tango and Foxtrot in Weimar Berlin

A much edited scene from the 1928 G.W. Pabst film "Abwege". In addition to a general sense of Weimar German decadence and excess, typical 1920s Foxtrot and Tango can be seen in considerable detail. As much as I appreciate the artistry of the film making, I am using it primarily for dance history

Love this, those clubs were fantastic. A place with a wonderful dance floor, and live orchestra. Where are those today? We sure don't have them , at least where I live. There use to be a Dance Studio, where they taught The Tango, Fox Trot, Waltz etc. but it closed for lack of intrest. We aren't very cultured here. I enjoy your videos, Thank You really enjoy them.

Looks great fun! If you compare this to The Triumph of the will, with its endlessly tedious marching and saluting, it's tragic to think what was destroyed. How Germany went from freedom and openness to closed, puritanical fanaticism in a few years.
