As somebody who's only been in the Shenmue community for several months even though I got into the series back in 2022, I made it my mission to research the origins of the series and I know a good amount about how it was originally supposed to be connected to VF.
I'm so glad a few people are at the helm of pushing for another Shenmue release. I try to watch every video you guys put out all the way through and always like the videos. Thank you.
Loved that Yu Suzuki was given a spot in the video! Mentions Shenmue! Revo is good, although I did have one match where my opponent was moving around like a DBZ character lol. Shenmue wouldn't exist without VF.
I said this in the Dojo forums, but this new project RGG studio is working on has really piqued my interest. Apparently, they are making a new action RPG game that will utilize the Virtua Fighter engine for the combat that goes by the codename "Project Century". The fact that Sega is choosing to risk a brand new IP instead of making a Shenmue 1 and 2 remake with the updated VF6 engine is mind boggling to me. That should be easy money in the bank for Sega with the right amount of marketing. I still don't understand why Sega will do everything BUT remake Shenmue in the dragon engine. Either way, the new VF game looks phenomenal and it gave me chills down my spine seeing the AM2 logo again. Also love how Yu Suzuki candidly mentions Shenmue in the VF direct, keeping the name alive. With all these great games Sega have been producing, we still need at least Shenmue 1 and 2 remade on the Dragon Engine. I'll definitely be tagging RGG studio next month on the 4th when we have another campaign.
To be fair, it looks like it's going to be a new IP but with the Yakuza things we are accustomed (similar to the Judgment games), so it's not really that risky of an investment.
@@marcelosoares7148 RGG can easily remake a new Shenmue game in that style. Especially since Sega likely has all of their pre-existing assets from the original 2 games.
@@LXDarkSniper What would you change in a Shenmue Remake in order to appeal to a broader audience? Because appealing to a broader audience to sell more is probably the only way SEGA would think about doing something big with Shenmue like a remake.
Finally, a PC port! Now i can use my original Saturn controller via my USB adapter! Or even my Saturn Pro controller! I'll never have to play a fighting game with a Playstation controller ever again! (even the Hori Fighting Commander PS4 controller i use, though better than stock PS4 controller since it has an actually usable d-pad, is still just nothing compared to a Saturn d-pad)
I've been a Shenmue fan since 1999, but what I'm about to say may be something that a lot of people might hate. I think that a remake of the first two Shenmues by RGG studio would be more viable than a Shenmue 4. A game made in the Yakuza engine, supervised by Yu Suzuki. That would be better because it would introduce Shenmue to younger people, not just long-time fans. It would give the franchise a fresh start, a renewal. Shenmue 3 was made with a lot of love by Yu Suzuki, but with a lot of disregard by Sega. Letting a game as big as Shenmue be released as an "indie" game disappointed me. The first two Shenmues are technically far superior (and man, they're games from 20 years ago), I think Shenmue 3 was wrong the way it was made. It could have been much better executed, like Virtua Fighter itself is now. I really hope the new VF is a tremendous success and encourage RGG to work on Shenmue together with Yu Suzuki.
@@ShenmueDojoVOD They pay out for Yakuza, why not Shenmue? Shenmue has as much potential (or more) than Yakuza. The reason Yakuza is successful today is because it was always released on a platform that wasn't broke. The context was always very different. If Shenmue had come to the PS2, PS3 and not the Dreamcast, the story would be different. And I say this with a heavy heart, I love the Dreamcast. Edit: Thank you for replying to my comment! I'm sorry for this(just need to write it😂), but gameplay in last seconds of video reminds me Tekken..i don't want VF becomes this...i also don't like Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios characters redesign in VF5(( And yeah, i guess we see something starts with Shenmue - new publisher, lrg, Yu Suzuki appeared in video about VF..i want to believe😅
