I'm really digging the energy that Sega has been bringing lately. They're one of the most important game companies in history, so it's great to see them starting to act like it again. I hope their renewed focus on their legacy franchises will open the door for some great new games and tech. Sega is back! 💜
You know one game I wish they put some thought into revamping, "Eternal Champions". I know a few old-heads probably remember that game. It lacked some finish, but was an amazing game.
all because Japan revised their pachinko laws, so pachinko machines aren't as profitable anymore and game companies are forced to make actual games with their IP's and not pachinko "games" (ie Konami with MGS and Silent Hill, SNK with KOF and Fatal Fury, now Sega-SAMMY with their IP's)

Never played VF but I liked how Tekken was realistic and played the hell out of it just because of that. Since Tekken 7 season 2 realistic fighting do not seem to bother Harada so I'm heading to VF lol
I was a Tekken head but what they’ve done with the game with the juggling is a huge turn off. It’s like you have to sit there and wait for your opponent to mess up for a chance of redemption so when this comes out I’ll be playing this.

I'm 42. VF has always been my jam since playing the original in arcades. I bought a 32x for VF1 and a Saturn for VF2. The 3d fighting space is about to get a lot more diverse and i'm here for it.

As someone who has played Tekken almost exclusively, (enjoyed VF5 and Fighting Vipers midway in TK's lifetime), I'm ready to come back and hopefully stay. I really need a 3D fighting game that's not Tekken right now.

Im personally glad to see Sega giving more love to VF, and this time it's not some cameo appearance, or guest appearance of some sort, but a whole new game, plus finally porting VF5 eSports/Ultimate Showdown, but also a PHYSICAL COPY OF THE GAM ETOO!!!? I already own the digital game, but I think im gonna buy it anyway along with VF2 Classic Edition. I dont know why its called Classic Edition though, but Im hoping there might be more to it than just 1 to 1 port of the PS2 version of VF2, which is just the arcade game with a little bit of extras. Still I think we are living a VF Renaissance.
Virtua Fighter is back, and it looks amazing. RGG are one of the best studios in the business. The volume of games they put out, the quality, I would love for them to use the Virtua Fighter engine and help Yu Suzuki finish off the Shenmue series. I can't think of anybody better to do it.

Virtual fighter is back same with street fighter this game brought many generations of kids all over the world we all grew up on virtual fighter and it’s back and let’s not forget about the guest appearances in dengeki and the virtual fighter anime glad to see it back
The thing that appeals to me is that the character still look human. What set it apart from other more mainstream flashy superpower counterparts is its more traditional style which is lacking now a day

As someone's who can still be considered a fighting game noob Tekken 8 being the first traditional fighter I have gotten into, would virtua fighter be a good time for someone like me? From what I've heard it's arguably one of the more complex fighters despite how deceptively simple it appears

Thank you, I just always found the series somewhat daunting due what I've and how extremely different it was from other fighters especially when it came to it's complex mechanics and bizarre lack of anything resembling a story.

Shuji Utsumi was the greatest choice to have as a president , past year they announce a plethora of old games like crazy taxi, jet set radio etc. The way they choose to present to us the new Virtua Fighter was nothing short of amazing , they put a lot of effort on their ips something that sega last years was not good at. So we have a new beginning and a wish to see a brand new system at the future from the company that all we love.
Such an iconic series that I grew up alongside and then it went quiet for the longest time. But now it's really back with a whole new game in the hands of the amazing RGG Studio behind the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series. Welcome back, Virtua Fighter!!!
It looked like there were a lot of cool parry's, deflects & active blocks in that brief gameplay footage😲 I hope the game actually plays like that, with all the parrys, blocks, dodges, deflects and counters - maybe even a feature where you can grab and hold onto an arm or a leg as it's coming at you and deliver a devastating counterattack!
I'm glad VF is back. Tekken has shifted further away to more over the top combat, VF will hopefully scratch that itch of a more grounded 3d fighting game. And tekken needs a competitor tbh.
Being a Tekken player from almost its inception, I always had this respect for Virtua Fighter, especially VF3 which was a HUGE deal in arcades. And you're 100% right; even if they're on both ends of the spectrum, Tekken needs that direct competitor so that both companies can make a better product.
Lifelong Tekken fan but T8 is't doing it for me. A strong VF release will be good for both franchises, IMO. Tekken needs competition and VF is such a different game now that they'll both be great complements to one another
I'm not the biggest VF-head out there, only kind of appreciated the series from a distance after playing 4 and 5 as a kid, but I'm really glad to see the big push here. It feels like Sega is really serious about trying to pump some fresh energy into the franchise

I remember being stationed in Japan when Virtua Fighter 2 came out and there was a line in front of a massive cabinet in Sega World. As the only gaijin there I was given a round of applause for winning two fights in a row. Given that I normally got bodied by schoolchildren I felt pretty good about myself.
When I got into the FGC VF was "dormant" as well, but I've always heard of VF being a pretty darn technical game. In any case, I hope it thrives as a game since I've always felt Tekken hasn't had any competition for quite a while now.
I would love a collection of Virtua Fighter in honor of this anniversary, the age of fighting games has returned in full force and this franchise truly has a place.
Very happy there's a new VF finally. I played so much VF2 on the Saturn, and VF5 on Xbox 360. A small group I was in kept playing weekly sessions online as late as 2019. I really need that VF5 REVO and VF6 on Xbox. Please, SEGA!
Amazing! I can't wait to see the changes to the gameplay and the new characters! The mention of story being one of the 3 points of focus was very interesting, since story in the past games hasn't been anywhere near as fleshed out as Tekken and Dead or Alive. That is exciting news!
The item customization in 4 EVO was groundbreaking at the time and I still think it was implemented the best in that game. The thrill of finding a cool cosmetic item randomly in a fight, or as a reward for a quest made the game feel very rewarding to play for a long time.
For The Legend that is Virtua Fighter to Finally Rise to the Challenge of its Rivals SF6, New MK1 , KOFXV, New Fatal Fury COTW, and Especially Tekken 8 Lets see how the 3D OG handles this whole new Era only time will tell if KT will make a new DOA despite its past not so good marketing practices
in 2002, i bought a PS2 for my first fighting game, VF4. 22 years later, i bought a ps5 for the future vf6. just realized this is the only game ive ever bought consoles specifically because. playing strangers at an arcade in fukuoka is one of my best vf memories. either way, it's been an uphill battle with the dwindling fanbase over the years & i'm so excited for this.
@ oh absolutely. training & quest was by far the best with 4 evo, & pretty sure the whole fgc base is on the same page with that. i only play vs online or irl, but lack of single player since vf5 vanilla was released is part of the reason the game fell into just a niche community of diehard fans, while SF & Tekken have had the opportunity to run rampant & unchallenged. the teaser already is such a great step in the right direction. so many new fans interested & are on the REVO beta. a lot of questions in reddit & discord, but it's such a drastic change from the last 10-17 years when no one new was coming aboard, & competitions stopped offering it as an option. i don't have a pc, so i'm just on the 2.0 VF5US update. bummed i won't get to partake in REVO, but hey - we've waited this long. & really hoping whatever 1P options are available for the next installment will be what a very ready & willing audience of newcomers will want & enjoy.
Rollback for VF5 is freaking huge, really seems like they're going hard this time. I hope they succeed since 3D fighting games are at an awkward spot rn, since it's just Tekken.
It would be fun if they included a few of the DoA characters since DoA5 had VF guest characters. They share quite a lot of DNA so it would be a nice fit.

There are two games that forever hold a place in my heart. VF, because it took my mind away from the issues I faced during a very rough patch in life. And MK, due to the hours me and my buddies played this (especially MK9) while working in a area where there literally was nothing else to do but work, exercise, study, eat and sleep. So no matter when these franchises drop new games, or if they go non-existent, I am and will ALWAYS be a fan and player 🙏🏿❤️

Shuji Utsumi was the greatest choice to have as a president , past year they announce a plethora of old games like crazy taxi, jet set radio etc. The way they choose to present to us the new Virtua Fighter was nothing short of amazing , they put a lot of effort on their ips something that sega last years was not good at. So we have a new beginning and a wish to see a brand new system at the future from the company that all we love.
Reminds me of Kung Fu Hustle aesthetic and even has the striking sound effects from that movie

I hope the game actually plays like that, with all the parrys, blocks, dodges, deflects and counters - maybe even a feature where you can grab and hold onto an arm or a leg as it's coming at you and deliver a devastating counterattack!

I'm glad VF is back. Tekken has shifted further away to more over the top combat, VF will hopefully scratch that itch of a more grounded 3d fighting game. And tekken needs a competitor tbh.
Being a Tekken player from almost its inception, I always had this respect for Virtua Fighter, especially VF3 which was a HUGE deal in arcades. And you're 100% right; even if they're on both ends of the spectrum, Tekken needs that direct competitor so that both companies can make a better product.
Lifelong Tekken fan but T8 is't doing it for me.
A strong VF release will be good for both franchises, IMO. Tekken needs competition and VF is such a different game now that they'll both be great complements to one another
Tekken is basically Street Fighter with a fourth button now.
I'm not the biggest VF-head out there, only kind of appreciated the series from a distance after playing 4 and 5 as a kid, but I'm really glad to see the big push here. It feels like Sega is really serious about trying to pump some fresh energy into the franchise

I remember being stationed in Japan when Virtua Fighter 2 came out and there was a line in front of a massive cabinet in Sega World. As the only gaijin there I was given a round of applause for winning two fights in a row. Given that I normally got bodied by schoolchildren I felt pretty good about myself.
Ive never played VF. Ive gotten into The FGC over the past year, now big on Tekken, but i cant wait to see what the hype is about!
When I got into the FGC VF was "dormant" as well, but I've always heard of VF being a pretty darn technical game.
In any case, I hope it thrives as a game since I've always felt Tekken hasn't had any competition for quite a while now.

Amazing! I can't wait to see the changes to the gameplay and the new characters! The mention of story being one of the 3 points of focus was very interesting, since story in the past games hasn't been anywhere near as fleshed out as Tekken and Dead or Alive. That is exciting news!
Akira's looking wild, but I fuck heavy with it. I like the Ip Man vibe.
The item customization in 4 EVO was groundbreaking at the time and I still think it was implemented the best in that game. The thrill of finding a cool cosmetic item randomly in a fight, or as a reward for a quest made the game feel very rewarding to play for a long time.
I hope the new Virtua Fighter game will be available on Xbox. Xbox players are stuck with Final Showdown.

in 2002, i bought a PS2 for my first fighting game, VF4. 22 years later, i bought a ps5 for the future vf6.
just realized this is the only game ive ever bought consoles specifically because.
playing strangers at an arcade in fukuoka is one of my best vf memories. either way, it's been an uphill battle with the dwindling fanbase over the years & i'm so excited for this.
I bought both that and vf4 Evolution and they both are good games
( Vf4 Evolution Quest mode was better than Vf5s)
@ oh absolutely. training & quest was by far the best with 4 evo, & pretty sure the whole fgc base is on the same page with that. i only play vs online or irl, but lack of single player since vf5 vanilla was released is part of the reason the game fell into just a niche community of diehard fans, while SF & Tekken have had the opportunity to run rampant & unchallenged.
the teaser already is such a great step in the right direction. so many new fans interested & are on the REVO beta. a lot of questions in reddit & discord, but it's such a drastic change from the last 10-17 years when no one new was coming aboard, & competitions stopped offering it as an option.
i don't have a pc, so i'm just on the 2.0 VF5US update. bummed i won't get to partake in REVO, but hey - we've waited this long.
& really hoping whatever 1P options are available for the next installment will be what a very ready & willing audience of newcomers will want & enjoy.
Rollback for VF5 is freaking huge, really seems like they're going hard this time.
I hope they succeed since 3D fighting games are at an awkward spot rn, since it's just Tekken.

There are two games that forever hold a place in my heart.
VF, because it took my mind away from the issues I faced during a very rough patch in life. And MK, due to the hours me and my buddies played this (especially MK9) while working in a area where there literally was nothing else to do but work, exercise, study, eat and sleep. So no matter when these franchises drop new games, or if they go non-existent, I am and will ALWAYS be a fan and player 🙏🏿❤️
