Like the friendship these two have developed over the years. Plain to see they get along well. Mind you, Willo is so down-to-earth and easy-going he probably gets along with most.
Mark is one of my favourite sportsmen, what an awesome demeanor. How could you not root for a guy like that? The way he approaches the game is so clever as well. His appearances on your show are great. Thanks Stephen, much love as we say here on Grand Cayman. 🍹🇰🇾
Modest words Stephen. In my humble opinion, 'tween the years 92-96 you were ages before your time and any of todays players would have had a hard time against you when you were at your very best. Lovely player.
No question a top #4 player today and a handful of World titles at least. I though the count on the backswing was a great tip actually - that was working for you...
It’s an interesting question but the fact is if Stephen was at his peak now he’d be tough to beat. However you have to factor his peak being bought up in the current era. Then he’d be unstoppable. He’d still have that same horrible win at all costs mentality but he would be even more aggressive with his break building. Not that he wasn’t aggressive in the 90’s.
Agreed. People like to rewrite history as if snooker has moved on completely. It's nonsense. Stephen would be dominating most players at his peak and winning titles left right and centre
Lee's got some concentration potting the second and third hardest shots of his break with Mark waving his hand in his face jabbing the table and making him play the shorter shot by putting his cue across the table at one point lol
Suggestion is some people from interesting matches in Stephen's career - Mike Hallett, Peter Ebdon, Marcus Campbell, Nigel Bond. And keep trying to get Jimmy on!
At his best Steven would top 4 for sure in any era - his break building and ruthlessness was second to none. Fabulous video - imagine Mark W and Steven commentating together!
@@spring899 😂 he's been in atleast another video also doing the same thing, may have recorded same time as these three was together in another video aswell
It has to be said to have Stephen hendry as the reigning world champion along with Ronnie on 7 each . To have him as the world champion and him being so humble and giving back to the fans like this is great . Top bloke . I can’t see Ronnie doing anything like this in 10 years , hope I’m wrong 🙏
i’d love to see Jason Fox in here, a bit different to your usual guests but i think it would be great! especially when he’s finished his arctic expedition
My fav player to watch is O'sullivan, maybe taboo to say on this channel xD BUT Mark is the funniest to listen too he is hilarious!! Love the content too Hendry keep it up :D
Stephen really is a proper dad haha likes it his own way or it’s the highway. I think if he was receptive and open minded to coaching he could come back and do well
I don't think he has the motivation now. Look back at him playing in his prime, he was so intense, that all seemed to go when he won his 7th world championship.
They're referring to Stephen having little to no pause on his backswing. Striking the ball in a "stabbing" motion as opposed to a brief pause with a smooth follow through. It's poor cue action and both Mark and Stephen know it 😅
What a contrast from last week's car crash. It's all about quality guests - snooker fans could watch hours of williams and hendry doing this, whereas only a few nutjobs could endure no mark prats like selt. Loved this latest episode, it flowed and had good insight, really enjoyable
If you're worried that your fella is messing about after telling you he's "going playing snooker with the lads" ... watch this. This is EXACTLY whats he's doing 😂
20:14 Stephen's spot on here. Dominic Dale is an absolute nightmare for talking too much on commentary. Don't get me wrong, he's incredibly knowledgeable and brings a different tempo to commentary that a lot of others don't/can't. But, I find him to be very jarring. I'm used to the snooker being quiet and chilled out with a bit of quiet banter here and there. The lad goes off like the Duracell bunny, sometimes.
I like that mark says to stephen you dont think you would get to number one i think you would not for as long as you did, stephens reply i dont like to say as people says thats ridiculous mark says i can say, yep fully agree with this
Finally we hear a sensible response to where Stephen would be today. The general standard may be higher but the top 4-6 players are arguably not as good. He would definitely be number one. How would the standard of the opposition change him winning in one visit more than half the time? How many players today have made 770 centuries even with twice the number of tournaments now?
47:10 “You leave the lower ranked players in, you expected to get back to the table.” What he doesn’t say is that the person who changed what the basic standard required was, was him. Willie Thorn would often say in commentary “He’ll be looking to make at least 40 from this chance”, which was a reflection of the attitude of clear up the easy balls then play safe in the 1980s. It was Hendry that started the attitude of “If I let them come back to the table then they have a chance, I’m not leaving the table until I’ve won the frame”.
Mark makes the same point i always do, in stephen hendrys and steve davis prime they still had mark himself ronnie o sullivan who davis beat in 97 final if i remember correctly, Jimmy white etc, so yeah i think steve davis and stephen hendry at there best would do very well indeed, they could win stuff for sure, but like mark says not 7 worlds but both davis and hendry at there very best definately can win stuff
13:25 care believe mark missed Lee taking his shot then hendry taking the next, so two shots in a row 😂😂 mined you he probably an didn't care cause it put him in an easier place lol.
Shows how much none of them concentrate. Hendry and walker played a shot after one another at the start of 13mins, and williams pot the black in the same pocket around 47mins. 😂
Barring Ronnie, Stephen was the best to ever do it. Wish they could give im an anti-yip pill. He'd be force. Like Tiger Woods in 2019. When his body would let him, he was still the best player
