People think they can say whatever they want. I remember on my 30th birthday I was walking in my neighborhood with my son on his tricycle and my daughter in her stroller. This woman said aloud enough so I could hear her “Uugh! These teenage mothers!” Like she was disgusted. I was like, “I’m a home owner with a master’s degree” That shut her up quick.
That's crazy. People can be so unnecesarily rude. My mom told me how a older woman actually sized her up years ago when she was out with me (age 4) and my infant sister. Mind u shes 32 and married but my mother always looked young. She ignored the woman but i wouldn't have if i was her.
The point is it's none of the lady's business there are multiple reasons a child can look different then there parent. Just know that he is happy and well taken care of by that beautiful black woman with him ... that's all that should matter!

Girl I’ve definitely dealt with this and still deal with it daily. My children are also very fair skinned, Someone asked me if i was the nanny once and also, a lady at my child’s school thought my daughter was going to the wrong car because i didn’t “look” like her mother. My daughter was waving and saving “mommy,” the lady administrator proceeded to walk her over and when i put my head out the window the administrator says, “oh no sweetly not this car,” i stuck my head out and said, “Yes! This car!” So, yeah It definitely happens. From a mother of a 2 year old and 5 year old, mixed with Russian, sad to say but its gonna happen more than once. And it never makes you feel good. Different people are going to ask or just stare. And you are going to see and feel it. My mother in law was walking behind myself and my son, i was holding him. We were at a festival and my mother in law speaks only Russian, another Russian couple walked passed me and he said to his wife, “look, the child is white and the mother is dark.” My mother in law heard him and said, “and yes, that is my grandson and my daughter!” And they were ashamed that they were heard. Girl, the list can go on. You will definitely go through it. As long as you are out with your kids, people are going to ask. I’ve gotten it from both white and black people.
Both my husband and I are mixed and our kids are light skin with our youngest being very fair skin and blond hair. Being that she was my hardest delivery I used to get so annoyed when people would say “is she yours” or “is that your baby”. I finally would be like yes do you want to see her birth video....just real annoyed. One man, bless his heart, checked his wife - he was like why would you say that. I just smiled. Thinking yes thank you Sir.
I totally understand. I am mixed with Vietnamese and African American, and people don’t believe that my mother( full Vietnamese) is my actual mom. And since I have a baby sis who is 3. 15 years apart in age from her I get a lot of dramatic people thinking they know that shes my child, when my mom carried her for 9 months and birthed her. This use to happen to me often with my daughter when she was younger, being a black mom with a child that looks Caucasian, my husband is Caucasian. Most people aren't trying to be malicious they are just curious or uneducated about how genetics work. Best thing to do is brush it off and be proud cause people are going to ask these silly questions for awhile. You have a beautiful family!

Omg the same thing happened to me. I was at walmart at the redbox and these two older white ladies walked up to me and said omg hes so beautiful with his blue eyes who baby is he???.... I looked at them like wtf really. I wanted to say something back so rude, but god wouldnt let me so i just smiled and said Thank you hes my son and his eyes arent blue and I walked away. I dont thing they were trying be rude but people just need to think before they speak.
Quinn Alissi, The fact that you have to justify that your child’s eye aren’t blue might indicate that deep down it bothers you that your child has predominately taken the Caucasian side of genetics. Hey your kid appears white (deal with it). If he looked mixed race maybe they wouldn’t ask as he would appear to have ethic genes. And technically if a child is adopted they would biologically not belong to yourself. Live in the real world, and as it stands that world is still prejudice to anything and anyone who is not white or whom is poor.

I had the exact same thing happen to me, someone asked how old she was and when I answered she asked if she was mine. So nosey, and rude. But I was kind to her.. Some people have no tact and no clue. My family and I actually discussed this and we came to several conclusions. The biggest was that in today's society people aren't taught to hold their tongue and to be respectful. This is a society that is taught that respect should be earned instead of just giving respect. Just backwards. She was wrong from the get go to be having a discussion with your husband in the first place when I'm sure it was obvious you all were a family. I want to believe she meant no harm but my entire family agreed she was shading you. Just sad. Any questions in her mind should have stayed there because that was an inappropriate question to ask any woman with a baby. She should have just assumed so. The manner in which people interact today is tragic. I can only be the example I wish to see and hope that beautiful families like yours set the standard. ❤

I was asked if I was my son's nanny, by a African American woman, she had big attitude too like i was lying to her, I said come again, she asked again I said no he's my son are you kidding me, go away. I'm African American and my son's dad is Puerto Rican. My son looks just like me in all features, it was his complexion and hair that threw her off. Some people are so ignorant. What a question to ask someone. That was 33 years ago, I see nothing has changed.

My daughter is biracial and when she was a baby, I used to get asked all the time if I was her nanny 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ Sometimes people just don’t know.... I tried to not take it offensively and just let them know how blessed I was to have such a beautiful baby girl. We still get funny looks today. Oh well!

Then she followed up with but she's lighter than you. At least she was just a child but it's be rude for an adult to ask such a question.

Skin tone isn’t the only trait you get from a parent. SMH. Look at his cheeks lips and eyes, that’s all her baby. That’s so ignorant to think all mixed kids look a certain way.
Just because she was biracial doesn't mean she cant have prejudice views, you two clearly walked into the store together with an infant, and you responded on the baby's age on the spot. She didn't need much information after that, whether he is yours and you are your husband's wife, it was none of her business. Stating she's biracial was her way of covering up her ignorance because the baby is of far lighter complexion than you are. She made a vain assumption he was either full white or came from a woman of lighter skin. A biracial person should have known better. I mean, Tia and Tamera Mowry are way lighter than their mother and carry subtle features of hers, I can only imagine how many times ppl were shocked that her kids called her mom/mommy in public, but I guarantee you, not many dare to ask her openly, "Are they yours?"

Omg the same thing happened to me. I was at walmart at the redbox and these two older white ladies walked up to me and said omg hes so beautiful with his blue eyes who baby is he???.... I looked at them like wtf really. I wanted to say something back so rude, but god wouldnt let me so i just smiled and said Thank you hes my son and his eyes arent blue and I walked away. I dont thing they were trying be rude but people just need to think before they speak.

If he looked mixed race maybe they wouldn’t ask as he would appear to have ethic genes. And technically if a child is adopted they would biologically not belong to yourself. Live in the real world, and as it stands that world is still prejudice to anything and anyone who is not white or whom is poor.

Ugh. Some people.. I'm mixed, and in an interracial relationship. My baby looks just like her daddy- very fair with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. I had the exact same thing happen to me, someone asked how old she was and when I answered she asked if she was mine. So nosey, and rude. But I was kind to her.. Some people have no tact and no clue. I actually think baby Uriah looks very similar to my girl, needless to say I think he's GOREGOUS! Stay blessed Pearson fam!!

My family and I actually discussed this and we came to several conclusions. The biggest was that in today's society people aren't taught to hold their tongue and to be respectful. This is a society that is taught that respect should be earned instead of just giving respect. Just backwards. She was wrong from the get go to be having a discussion with your husband in the first place when I'm sure it was obvious you all were a family. I want to believe she meant no harm but my entire family agreed she was shading you. Just sad. Any questions in her mind should have stayed there because that was an inappropriate question to ask any woman with a baby. She should have just assumed so. The manner in which people interact today is tragic. I can only be the example I wish to see and hope that beautiful families like yours set the standard. ❤

I was asked if I was my son's nanny, by a African American woman, she had big attitude too like i was lying to her, I said come again, she asked again I said no he's my son are you kidding me, go away. I'm African American and my son's dad is Puerto Rican. My son looks just like me in all features, it was his complexion and hair that threw her off. Some people are so ignorant. What a question to ask someone. That was 33 years ago, I see nothing has changed.

I tried to not take it offensively and just let them know how blessed I was to have such a beautiful baby girl. We still get funny looks today. Oh well!

Then she followed up with but she's lighter than you. At least she was just a child but it's be rude for an adult to ask such a question.

Just because she was biracial doesn't mean she cant have prejudice views, you two clearly walked into the store together with an infant, and you responded on the baby's age on the spot. She didn't need much information after that, whether he is yours and you are your husband's wife, it was none of her business. Stating she's biracial was her way of covering up her ignorance because the baby is of far lighter complexion than you are. She made a vain assumption he was either full white or came from a woman of lighter skin. A biracial person should have known better. I mean, Tia and Tamera Mowry are way lighter than their mother and carry subtle features of hers, I can only imagine how many times ppl were shocked that her kids called her mom/mommy in public, but I guarantee you, not many dare to ask her openly, "Are they yours?"

I can only imagine how often you get asked that question. I used to get asked are my kids mine when they were first born. Now they’re complexion is darker so I don’t get asked as a much. I can’t control my facial expressions so once they ask, they instantly regret lol.

I am going to admit. I have seen women with children and wondered silently to myself if they were the mothers or not. I know some of you have as well. The only thing is you probably didn't ask. I have never asked anyone myself. However, I do assume when I see a mixed couple with children that they are theirs. I don't know if she was being rude or not, but I certainly would not have asked if I were her. I love seeing Mixed couples too. Especially when I see a Black Women with another race of man.
