    I agree with the holes you drilled in the side walls, but you could save the effort of having to cut the slits in the bottom of the pit by simply placing a couple of nails in between the plates where they meet in the middle when you assemble the pit, so it leaves a small gap in between them. It'll save some structural integrity of the plates as they're only 2mm thick and already prone to warping with high temps.

    Hopefully Kings will do similar improvement for the next version. It’s weird that they didn’t think about the air flow issue.

      Yeah it's weird aye, and now they've bought out the folding fire pit which I probably would have bought in the first place ahaha

    Great video and yes airflow is an issue but these pits were developed to allow people to have a fire in locations that don’t allow open fires. Cutting airflow slits will definitely improve combustion but ash falling to ground will attract attention from authorities. Keep up the good vids.

      Thanks mate! I was actually pleasantly surprised that hardly any ash actually falls through while it's just sitting their burning but I 100% see where your coming from. Hope you enjoy some future vids!

    Get a piece of perforated stainless steel sheet to make a grate a few cm above the bottom of the fire pit and it'll burn perfectly with your end holes. Probably around $10 at your local stainless steel fabrication business.

      @@twox4x432 just make sure it's the thicker stuff to minimise warping.

    I did similar - 8x half inch holes 3 inches up from the bottom, then 3x half in holes in the ends. Similar mod, same results. Still smokey AF tho, but better than it was.

    Can you just pull the sides up a bit to make a gap at the bottom to let the air in? Maybe put an aluminium tray underneath to catch the ambers that fall through?

    • @twox4x432
      @twox4x432  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you probably could but it would just slide back down I reckon, also it would probably not actually add any air as there would be too much ash and coals blocking that spot that's why I added them a bit higher

    • @d.Cog420
      @d.Cog420 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@twox4x432 sweet, maybe put a stone or something in the gap to stop it sliding. And this would just be to get it pumping, once there is ash and coals it normally means your fire is underway and you could close it. Just thinking of options if you don't have an angle grinder other tools and the skill to use them. You've done an awesome job but I'd cut my foot off.
