Frank Bridge, always a favorite of mine--- starting early with his piano music; however, not at all familiar with his Piano Quintet. Mea culpa! What a beauty, and how marvelously performed. Thanks for posting such a treasure.
He was an excellent composer. You might also check out an arrangement another compsoer did of this piece for piano and string orchestra. Recorded by Carol Rosenberger, I think. Works really well for the expanded strings.
... frank bridge was a wonderful, brilliant composer ...
Highly underrated, unfortunately...
Beautifully played. Rare, indeed. There is almost too much music here to wrap my head around. :-). I shall listen again several times . . .. Thank you so much for posting.
earsense on second listening, I want to say this is a GREAT performance. Your "ensemble" is incredible. Bravo!
earsense just one more reply: I have added you as the default video on my website for this work. Cheers.

.... this performance is remarkable ...
An intentional melancholic, painful - foggy start. Could very well "paint" an impressionist scene - you have to jump into the frame as to become part of the missive colour strokes. But that is the great merit of Bridge.
That chord at 24:40 was probably the best part for me!
👏👏👏👏👏
Why has Frank Bridge's music fallen so far out of favour?
