I really appreciated this film's use of dream sequences. I assumed they were all there just to pad the runtime and provide awful fake scares, but they actually held a legitimate storytelling purpose by the end.

I was laughing so hard at the plot that it kept me from being scared after they reached the top of the tower. You could tell they were fighting the California smoke, but it looked great and couldn’t tell too much CGI was used.

I disagree about the seems not being viewable. Especially in the beginning scene there is some very poor green screen work. However after that scene it is never bad enough to take you out the movie and it was well worth watching.

I just recently watched this again with a friend. Upon a rewatch, it gave me a lot of THE DESCENT vibes in terms of the tension, both height and personal.
No monsters are in this film. The Descent was scary enough without them, as is this, but it's scary af, just like getting lost spelunking with a person you don't quite trust.
I wouldn't climb, or cave dive even if Tom Cruise himself told me he had my back lol 😬.

Fall sounds somewhat similar to The Ledge (2022, directed by Howard J Ford,) about a group of rock climbers who get murdered one by one in the woods. The last female survivor escapes by climbing up onto a ledge on a mountain where she is tormented by the killers who are lurking above her at the top. It's also really well done with nerve-wracking cinematography that had me squirming in my seat.

Usually it is a horror/thriller that sounds so good, but the carnage or violence is beyond my capacity to absorb without PTSD. This movie does sound intriguing. I get on the 3 level of my kitchen step stool and I react badly. Thank you Christy and Alonso, you have found yet another movie that will be on my streaming (not Theater) queue.

Was very effective the way the film (screenwriters) present the set-up's (the truck passing by really fast and then destroying something in the third act and also that thing for the battery). Well, really enjoyed.

Christy and Alonso! Haven't seen you two reviewing movies in a while, so glad I stumbled across this channel! Think it was TYT where you were before? Maybe? You guys are awesome.
I did really like the movie except the ending. After being stranded on a pole for 3 days with sun damage, starvation, dehydration, exhaustion, food poisoning from eating raw bird, and an untreated gash in her leg that maaaaaybe they would have rushed her to the hospital? Apparently she was fine with just a blanket and she went home with dad. Maybe they went out eat afterwards. ;)
Besides that though, that was one exciting and stressful movie. And I really liked the twist. Now time to go binge watch your other reviews. :)

Some incredible footage was caught here and there's real tension. My one turn off was the twist (SPOILER). The film jumped the shark at that point: when we find out Hunter was really dead, and Becky was imagining her being alive. It brought in a supernatural element that didn't fit the survival story. Even mentally ill people rarely have visual hallucinations. It's almost always auditory hallucinations. Plus hallucinations are brief and inconsistent. It's never a fully realized speaking human being. So a ghost appearing could only be supernatural. Despite this I still enjoyed it.

    • @BreakfastAllDay

That did feel like a bit of a cheat, but the movie is fun.

    • @brajeshsingh2391
      @brajeshsingh2391 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@BreakfastAllDay that final plot twist was a cheat. And honestly it surprised me because they had built up the tension well till that point. They were going great. I do not think a plot twist was required. Especially at that point. Kind of reminded you of 47 metres down.
I personally think that while it It does add some shock value it leaves the overall narrative poorer. In fact Becky's death would have had a more profound impact had it been shown in normal progression, and then the lead shown to could have survive to honor her friends effort. That twist just seemed an easy survival route for the lead and for the movie to reach an end.
Or she could have survived. That too could have worked. But I guess the makers did not screenplay to sustain the tension. That one final challenge that was to be presented to the 2 ladies did not come. It was disappointing because the fight of the 2 ladies to survive was really the high point of Fall and really held the movie together. And it was quite tense.
The set up and back stories also did not impress much. I really did not understand the reason for adding the back story, Maybe the makers though that merely an survival story would not carry the emotional depth but Fall through its tight screenplay, good production values and earnest performances of its 2 leads had actually done really well with its core idea. I only wish the movie had a better climax. I give this a 7, for its unique plot, some genuinely well executed survival scenes, and good performance from its leads.

I saw the movie in a theater. It's funny, i don't consider myself to have a fear of heights. I can fly in an airplane or visit the top of the Empire State building without breaking a sweat. But remove the sense of security, and that triggers the anxiety. If you put me on one of those really high swing rides at a theme park where your feet dangle, I get very, very, very nervous. If I fear I MIGHT fall, yikes. Suffice it to say, the movie did a number on me. Really solid little potboiler that I hope gets more attention.

The fact that after a year of drinking and letting yourself go this woman could make the ladder climb let alone any other climbing and after not eating for days.Dont even start on the fact the girl on the platform was watching her friend leap for a rope she could have moved with her hand to the other side of the platform.

Not having seen it yet, I’m not sure how closely the whole movie conforms to it, but when I saw the trailer for this in the theater it reminded me a lot of that movie where the young adults got stranded on a ski lift.
