Our PRT had a huge character that was far bigger than any dog we’ve ever had. She was feisty, loyal, and highly energetic. We had a country property and she spent hours running and exploring. She thought she was bigger than she was and was quite the alpha with our other dogs. We did go through training with her, so that helped a lot with her.I loved how she also wanted her alone time like I did- we had a deep understanding and knew that of each other. When she was mad at us, she’d sit with her back faced to us😂She passed away 5 years ago and I still can’t say her name without crying.
I can imagine your pain... I've had quite a few dogs in my 60 years.. I love them all... last year I brought home a Jack Russell Terrier... I knew it was a small dog breed and didn't think it would be much of a watchdog but he was extremely cute... 2 years later I can't wait to get home to see him... his Extreme intelligence, 40 mile an hour lightning speed, agility, and how he uses the small size as an advantage, strangers beware that's for sure he can jump 6 ft straight up in the air and attack with a ferocity of a Spartan warrior... Mark Twain put it very well... it's not the size of the dog in the fight it's the size of the fight in the dog... one day when it is your time your loving friend will be at the Pearly gate waiting for you...🙏🐶
I had one named Casper. He had such a personality and was very sensitive. I have had 3 dogs in my life in 40 years, and I miss him so much when I think of how sweet he was to my family we all shed tears. I miss him so.
Rescued a PRT from a bad breeder, she was born with a heart defect. Took her to the vet who said she may live for a couple of years. She passed away 3 years ago at 14.5 years old. The most awesome dog I ever owned. We had two JRT’s before that who we just loved but the PRT was something special. Spent the whole of her life with foster children, lots of them. She never bit, nipped, barked or even growled at one of them. We took her all over Australia in our caravan, when we got home she refused to get out of the car and whined for us to open the garage door. We have laughed for years about that. She did die of heart failure and while we have another dog who we love we miss our PRT so much. Watching this video I really want another one.
Had one for 18 yrs. He passed away about 4 yrs ago. When he was 8 months old, he got into a fight with a full grown male Chow who charged him and knocked him down. Next thing I knew, my PRT was on top of the Chow's head trying to bite the dog's eyes out, lol. He wasn't scared to fight. Yet, he caught 2 birds somehow, and gently brought them to me and laid them unhurt at my feet. He took a baby rabbit out of it's nest and brought it to me and laid it at my feet unhurt as well. He loved to run, loved people as well. He was head strong, smart as a whip, and loyal. What more could you ask for in a dog?
@@Rocadog Why thank you. It was a tough loss when he died. I still miss him. That dog was tough as nails, no doubt. But a gentle loving dog as well. My dad who had passed away in 2009 had given him to me on Christmas Day in 1998 (if I remember correctly).
Our PRT, called Troppo, is the loveliest animal it is possible to imagine. Nearly three now we had him from 8 weeks. We go everywhere with him including the south of France. He is incredibly loyal, really loving, good fun, sense of humour, and keeps us fit with all the exercise he needs and we want to give him. I cannot imagine life without him. For a Terrier not only is he gentle and kind, but he will not run away - or if I'm out of sight for about 30 seconds he runs to find me which is very reassuring.
My first PRT, I love this small dog had my doubts b4 but all is out the window! Such a sweet boy my dog is, and very food motivated I must add! Such a personality, stands up for himself and very independent! My favorite breed so far!
We have always kept terriers and have a 13 year old Westie and a young Border Terrier. My friend breeds Parson Russell Terriers and I am learning more about them - amazing little hunt terriers! Thank you for your video - very informative.
Our PRT name is Toffy and he is my best friend. We had another PRT before, and I watch his photos waiting for the time we’ll be all togheter again. PRT are the strongest dog I ever seen and they are very sensible to your feelings. If you are sad or anxious they try to help you so much. With my wife we are a family
My Jack Russell Jackie boy who who was my parents' dog he's almost 16 and I'm trying to locate a breeder for a similar dog do you have any info do you know where I could possibly find anyone on the West Coast as I live in California
Our Nuclear plant Guus became 15½ yo. Great companion for our kids who grew along. I remember the days lots of kids from neighbourhood came to play, the whole garden and livingroom changed into playground, tunnels, bridges, jump areas. Guus did all the tricks, what great fun. Alwaysbeside you when visiting family, just one snip of the finger was enough for Guus how to behave/act. Can't describe how much we miss😢❤
Sadly lost my PRT Charlie last week. He was a character. At times hed have a conversation with you. Mumbling back when you talk to him. Great temperament. Great family dog. Follow you around everywhere.
I miss my Parson Russell so much. He was such a fast learner and I almost ran out of ideas. Sometimes he didn't even want meatballs as a treat, but he was always happy to work/play. I now have a jack Russell mix, also with long legs. But I can definitely see the different mentally. While my Parson was grounded and strong. My Jack is more weaker and insecure. But I don't know if I will go for a breed dog again. Mix is healthier.
We share our home with a Parson Russell named Christmas. Rocadogs information in this video is spot on. We laughed when he said Parson Russell (and Jack Russell ) are not dogs for a first time dog owner. So true. They are such big characters, and bring a great deal of joy to our lives. We have had Jack Russell dogs in the past, but Christmas, while not totally different from them, is a distinctively different personality...
I have a parson russell terrier-beagle mix, or so that's what the rescue told me. He is an awesome lil guy, very smart, loyal (a mama's boy), and is 100% obsessed with playing fetch. He is tri-colored, has a broken coat, and weighs about 18 pounds. He also has never had an accident in the house--not even as a puppy. Wicked smart! I did crate train him, and was able to come home at lunch to let him out. As he got older, I stopped and eventually let him stay out. The only thing he does that absolutely freaks me out is chasing squirrels, varmits, etc. Last winter, he caught a possum. Bleh! Thank goodness he didn't bring it to me through the dog door. We have a shed, and every spring I have a fortify the perimeter because Watson inevitably digs his way under. Scares me to death!! Awesome dog!
I lost my baby lewis on Tuesday, heartbroken💔 age 15 and 10 months. He was everything to me he was a beautiful loving dog. So lost without him the home is not the same 😪
I have a 2 and a half year old Parsons Chihuahua mix and she is a wonderful hiking and travel companion. Juno is timid unless on the trail but the most loving dog I have ever had. She is a great listener, not one for fetch, prefers keep away and circus tricks. She lights up when hiking and can go a solid 10 miles with me before I pick her up to ride on my shoulders or zipped in my jacket ❤
Awesome video! That picture of a Parsons next to a rabbit made me laugh as mine could never be peaceful next to any other animal haha. We got him from a rescue 12 years ago and had no idea what we were getting ourselves into he is an absolute fireball! 😂 He is absolutely the most courageous and brave dog and has killed snakes, possums, birds you name it and anything he thinks poses a threat to his family. Maybe too tough for his own good at times but by far the best friend i could ever ask for
@@Rocadog I have one that I adopted at 8 months. He's 9 now and still as fiery as he ever was. He's a great family protector and he's big at 30 lbs. I've had bunnies and hamsters and he was taught that they are part of the family and has never attempted to attack them. We live in NYC and he doesn't like critters outside the house. He absolutely hates cats and if he sees a raccoon or rat, he wants to go after them. He's very intelligent but stubborn. I don't suggest them to anyone that wants a passive dog. For some reason, certain breeds of dogs like German Shepherds make him homicidal. I don't know if it's a characteristic of the breed or if he had an incident with one before we got him. I really recommend them to people who have allergies. I cannot go near many breeds of dogs because they give me asthma but my Parson, Riley, gives me zero symptoms.
Warning to all of those who come to do us harm... I will give an audible warning that could be heard three houses down... if you do not heed this warning... I will give you a quick display of my Speed and Agility... and still you do not heed this warning... I will attack, attack and attack you again... I will not stop until you are dead or runoff... I am Jack Russell security...🐶
My PRT Millie is my devoted guardian angel. She is glued to my side every moment of the day and night. When she has the zoomies, she can race to her heart's content on our 3-acre property. My heart will surely die when she goes. I love her so deeply.
Russell terrier are Smallest but the bravest and intelligent breed ever produce... I got parsonrussellterrier she's only two months and she's so obedient loving and bravest puppy I ever had...
Man we have 3 curently in our family. Father has one granfather has one and me and those are oor 3. Generation of them and they are the most amazing dogs you can have, with proper care ofcourse.
@@Rocadog They're the same thing, the JRTCGB (Jack Russell Terrier Club Great Britain) members terriers look the same though they're not KC registered, i've been a breeder, Judge and terrier man for 45 years, we fought to stop KC recognition, i was also a member and at one time area rep for the FMWT (Fell & Moorland Working Terrier Club, which was affiliated to the JRTCGB, the chairman of the club at the time was a man called Barry Jones who declared he was going to seek KC recognition, there was a vote of no confidence called in his leadership but the respect everyone had for him he won the vote, but we parted our ways, i was at the meeting and attended the first year they were at Crufts, even today the JRTCGB terriers have better confirmation than the 'Parson' Jack Russell's.

Sad news, he passed away yesterday due to dog attack at dog park. Bigger dog bit him in the neck hard and his windpipe got crushed. We didn't realize it at first and he died at the vet's table. He was my best friend and the bright light in my life. I will love him always. 2022 is totally the worst year of my life.
The video would have been better served with ANYONE else narrating this. This dude's accent and tonality of his voice is me doing a european accent after doing 3 keg stands and a gravity bong rip. Awful.
