1. Check Your Foundation
Do an inspection into your own life and ask yourself what are you building your life on?
Sometimes you have to dig before a foundation can be laid.
Build Beneath the Surface
DIG past Disappointments, past Insecurities too lay a foundation on Jesus and what scripture says about us.
2. Count Your Cost
Luke 14: 28-29, There is a cost to building your life on Jesus and following him. You shouldn’t start it if you’re not going to be willing or able to finish it or it will be a waste of time, money, and others will look at you with ridicule.
In scripture there are 4 different types of people who followed Jesus
Familiar Followers- Jesus town and community, they were familiar but didn't expect anything.
Frauds - the religious teachers of the time. Everything they did was for show!
Fan - in it when its going good. Trying to be seen. Bandwagon fans.
Faithful Followers - sincere people with problems but took them to Jesus. Give up everything, following Jesus costs you something.
3. Choose Your Materials
Building our life with gold, silver, and precious stones is not a literal meaning, it means building our life with the things of God, things that last. Things like the Sharing the gospel, fruit of the Spirit, the unity of believers, the love for his Church, ect…
Paul tells us here to make sure our foundation is good, to count the cost, and choose materials that last.
What are you building your life on? Are you willing to pay the cost? Are you choosing to right materials? These things are so important if we want to build our lives on Jesus!
