NZ Basic Fishing | Surfcasting | Targeting Kahawai from the Beach

- Hello and welcome to Basic Fishing from New Zealand. In this video, I was out at the West coast beach of the Manukau Harbour to try and target some kahawai from the beach. It has been a while since I landed some kahawai and over the last few weeks, the rain and harsh weather has been rough and made fishing impossible so it was great to be out on the beach after a long time waiting. Also, it has been a long time since I landed some winter kahawai too so it was great to finally get some. Not to mention, I finally got to film and capture all the action on the new Gopro Hero 8 Black which was great. Look forward to some more fishy action when the weather improves and the season gets warmer.... plus land some other species of fish as well

Thanks for the vids! Ever thought about splitting the Kawahai for bait? Regards
i had before but where i was, the spot was notorious for sharks XD haha
You should do another video targeting kahawai
You forgot to put the pineapple lump between the mullet and squid.🤣🤣🤣🤣
lol haha
How deep does it drop off at low tide and how far out is the dropoff. I want to go try that beach on fly on a calm day.
low tides is the best option cause during midtide, the waves just makes it harder to fish. its quite deep. gets to my knees very easily after a few metres wading out
Nice video bro.. just wondering what size braid are u using?
50lb braid
Why is the west coast more different than east for fishing? Love your work btw
well west coast has more rougher waves n deeper waters. east coast has calmer but shallow beaches
Nice one ..how did you make your shiny rig which hooked several kahawai ?
thats a lumo sheet that i got from the tackle store. i just simply made my own flasher rig with black magic hooks
@@BasicFishingNZ nice one been sub and followed your videos for a while now..thanks for the tips
Are you using mono or brade .what kg or lbs
50lb braid
