This lowers your standard oil operating temperature, which is great, but are there any concerns with the oil not being up to temp? Isn’t it better for the bearings/ rings, other internals when the engine is warmer?
The s55 is known for its oil cooling problems. Not being able to combat them under harder driving situations, will result is more wear or internals over time. This ensures a cooler oil temp which will results in more stable performance and improve reliability. The oil will still reach the operating temperate at the same time as a stock thermostat.
That makes sense and good point , thanks for clarifying! I was confused in the video you said it opens earlier so that means it starts cooling faster if the oil gets too hot so it’s more stable
The oil temperature set by BMW is done for efficiency and emissions. On my N55 I see temps top 115c the oil must be like water at that point so this is a good piece of mind mod. In saying that there is a oil cooling valve you can buy for $60 that fits the stock OFH does the same job.
I just installed mine. I am curious what your oil likes look like and how flush they are. I want to make sure mine are all the way in. Do u have any pics of them?
Ok sounds good thank you. I just coukd never tell how flush others were so I was worried about leaking from there. I will see today when I go drive it. I can see the bottom of the orings but they are flush with the oil therm housing.
Great vid, and the post fit info showing cooler oil temps sealed it for mand just ordered the kit. QQ where you get the titanium bolt kit from as they look schmazing!!!!!!
I can't wait to see the new wheels as well. Going to look awesome on the car! I've been eyeballing the TE37's as well for my white 10' STI Hatchback but can't make up my mind on the black or gold. It has black Enkei PF01's on it right now. What would Chris do? Lol
One of my favorite engine bays out there so clean and well put together
Thank you!

I have M2 2018 definitely I should get that.. thanks
Very nice piece!! By the way did you order the installation kit as well?
Instillation kit came with it when you buy from kies.
@@Autofreakgarage so you also installed the titanium bolts as well?
@jaycdynasty yes they are included in the kit
@@Autofreakgarage thank you! Just ordered mine!
I think I know who was in that S2k lol he comes to our weekly meets by me 😅
Yup. He’s from I believe the freehold area

They only go in so far as the o rings pop into place. The bracket pulls it tight and snugs it up.

Also I know it doesn't lose much oil but did u add any oil or coolant for what it lost removing the old one?
@mmmm_gone5096 nothing was added as hardly anything was lost.
@@Autofreakgarage thats what I figured just wanted to make sure before I run it.

Thanks! Glad to have helped. The ti bolts come with the kit.
@@Autofreakgarage thanks bro - I meant the engine dress bolts in the coloured titanium 🙂
@detaildevil7208 my apologies! th-cam.com/video/zskPXUZYxmk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AJRpBjbQ8Y4eU2Ot
