    Hurts my heart to see any classic crushed but when they have no value besides scrap it's the right thing to do. I agree with some of the others. There is a fortune in trinket value there. People are always wanting the original scripts and dash stuff, door handles etc. Some of the window regulator's and channels are not reproduced. It took me a year to find a good original aluminum Corvair steering gear to reverse for my rat rod. Paid $75 for it. Bet there was a good one in the wagon. Great video Cowboy. Thanks

    Both those little wagons are scarce. Guaranteed somebody was cryin lol. The corvair wagon had a taller roof than regular corvairs like 2 inch higher, you noticed all the missing glass I'm guessing. Windshield and doors don't interchange with other corvairs. I'm surprised how much was left of the little blue one, kind of a shame.
    I had a scrapyard owner tell me once - " It all comes here, that truck you're towing with, the trailer, it'll all come to the scrapheap someday. It's as sure as death n taxes." Simply put, he's right. Enjoy it while you got it haha.. Thanks for sharing

      None after sitting in the grass and on dirt their all rotten.

    • @txviking
      @txviking 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of these had been in a field for the better part of a century. You can see the condition even before Cowboy crushes them. Rust on every piece of metal, forks going through floorboards when trying to lift a car, the roof coming off from the lightest touch, rear glass falling out without even breaking on one because there was nothing left of the gasket. Most of the fabric is so rotted that on many of the cars, there's no upholstery left at all, just rusty springs where the driver seat used to be.
      I love classics and it's sad to see them get crushed, but most of these cars are so far gone that you'd have to replace pretty much every part in order to save them. I don't know the owner, but I wonder if collections like these simply get overwhelming after a while. It starts out as a passion, but there aren't enough hours in the day or money in the bank.
      Also, like Cowboy said, many of these cars have been picked clean. I see pieces left that could be saved, such as glass and trim, but I'd like to think that what we see missing -- dashboards, doors, even engines -- has gone to save other Studebakers and other classics elsewhere.
      And hey, Cowboy saved that hood ornament. One more cool trinket for the collection!

    Every car can be restored. But spend 50k and a lot of time, if you can buy the same car for 20k. Cars that have been in the forest for a long time are often completely rotten, especially those that have been under pine trees.

    A shame the current land owner didn't decide to pull all the cars out and line them up for an auction. Looks like there is plenty of room to have done that. Would have generated a lot more money for him and made a lot of classic car owners happy as well have helped the people looking for glass, trim, and drivelines. A lot less profit in paying to have the cars crushed. Most time the buyers just take a few parts and leave the bodies behind for crushing. Would have been a win/win for both parties. Too late now...

    Ignorance, grew up in the Studebaker parts business. He has no clue how much those fenders are worth. Could pay his mortgage for months. Then crushed an Avanti, it’s fiberglass. Geez

      Where are the customers? A member of the Dallas Studebacker club was out there. He didn't take any of em and they were free. He also doesn't know the value? If there are no customers it has 0 value

      @@CowboyCarCrushing You contacted someone not in the parts business, that was smart. There’s Studebaker parts businesses, not hard to find on the internet. They all sell used/salvage parts. My father is one and travels all over the country buying parts Studebakers. If you part it out it’s very valuable, if he has to part it out the cars worth less but still more than scrap. Because one guy came out that has no knowledge of salvage and parts just means you wasted your time. The value on fenders are close to $5k per side

      @@StopmovingtoFL you are completely talking out of the side of your head. You have 0 information and 0 back story. Sounds like your butt hurt cause your daddy didn't get his cut. Those part were salvaged from a flooded warehouse in New Orleans. He saved them 30 years ago. They could have been scraped way back then. Also the new owner of the property said no parts. Get rid of complete cars or nothing. You don't have any of the facts. You are just another keyboard complainer. You still ain't said nothing about how you or your daddy can get those parts. Why don't you put your's or your daddy's money where your mouth is?
