Battle for Bikini Bottom Speedrun Contest:
A friend and I are giving away an OG Xbox + a copy of BfBB to the first 3 new players (or returning players from 2018 or earlier) to achieve sub1:10:00 in the original Battle for Bikini Bottom. Contestants must play on a PS2, GameCube, BCPS3, Wii, or Dolphin Emulator to be eligible. If you're playing on Xbox or Xbox 360, save the contest for those who need it! This is meant to reward those who are motivated to improve in BfBB, but have no means of buying an Xbox.

I thought the warnings for Robo Patrick’s goo were unnecessary. I was able to beat the boss when I was 7 years old back then, with some difficulty, but not unbeatable. The randomness of Patrick’s spin/goo attack was better imo
Yeah, I think if there was no other way to tell where the goo was coming from, like if it dropped on you from above, markers would make sense, but it's kinda unnecessary.

Honestly, everything from these animated gifs looks solid, although I do agree with having Texas show up down below in Sandy's Dream in particular. While I imagine this is unlikely, I do hope they incorporate some difficulty options (easy, normal, and hard mode) since I wouldn't want the game to become way too easy despite the younger crowd being the target audience. Either way, I had a minor thing I noticed:
Specifically, the toxic waste barf attack from Robo Patrick has him spit it out below his mouth where the flap is located instead of directly from his mouth. While minor, I do hope they catch and fix that since it does look quite jarring to me as it stands right now.
You hold valid points, but it's hard for me atleast to imagine different difficulty options in a platforming remake.
Like, what MAKES the Game hard already, and what changes are needed to provide a different Experience in Difficulty.
Enemys take away 2 Underwears from your HP? More/Stronger Placements in Combat areas?
Or maybe adding complete new enemies in higher modes (Hard Mode) or removing ones? (Easy Mode).
@@germandragon8664 I have to be honest: the ideas you have at the bottom of your comment are solid and kinda what I was thinking of in terms of higher difficulty settings.
-For example, easy mode would implement the red targeting areas from Patrick's toxic barf attack while normal or higher difficulty levels would remove this.
-Another idea I had was making the robots take 2 hits similar to what's happening in Horde Mode as that would get the player used to the idea of the robots being stronger then normal for the purposes of Horde Mode. I feel this should only be in the hard difficulty so as not to make it prominent in the default normal mode, however.
Either way, having mixed feelings about having difficulty options in a game of this caliber when it wasn't there before is understandable. However, as long as they implement difficulty options in just the right way that helps appeal to each audience (younger players, older/veteran players, etc.), then the potential is there for it to be a welcome surprise or a great feature.
Yellowlord actually I was thinking just making everything one hit KO you on hard mode and i know it sounds kinda unfair but I remember as a kid not getting hit at all many times playing the game back then. Although I did play the crap out of it back then and got used to the enemies.

Imagine reworking an animation because the character is too dummy thicc, also in my opinion I feel like it's still too saturated and bright, especially in mermalair, its supposed to be dark because it's an underground cave.

What really kept putting me off about him is how pink the new one is, it’s pretty distracting and feels less threatening
I wonder if there's going to be difficulty adjustment features so that experienced players can have an all new challenge to confront. Less health pickups, limited lives, enemies are faster and more aggressive (and more enemies in general), goo now takes away health instead of simply knocking you back, bosses attacks are larger and difficult to dodge, adjustments to the slides, etc.
That would be nice

I think, they really need to add a switch, to choose the difficulty. Cause i dont like to see, that games get easier as they supposed to be.
Maybe add things like the indicators at Robo Patrick, slower treadmills, less enemys, easier time limits etc. pp. in an extra "easy mode". But the hard mode should be at least as ahrd as the original was. If i would choose, make it even harder. I like challenges and its still one of my favorite games. I still play it today on my Gamecube. And even i wont be able to play the new one on the GC too, i wanna have it too, but not if its too easy.. It would destroy my game experience of that game

I don't think robo Patrick is gonna be mouthless until he does the goo attack because there's too many animations that require him to have a normal mouth.
But, what I think they did do is they looked at the original design, saw he had a metal panel attached to his jaw and said "what if that opened"
So he still has a normal mouth, but now his jaw just drops down so he can do the attack
I really want them to crank the Player Movement up again, because it's
A: Closer to the feeling of playing the original again.(And a remake is made to strike/improve parts that ruined the meant pacing.)
B: If Platforming segments of the Remake are the same and the changes to the Player physics are slowed down, it might potentially
cause problems with progressions.
Also I think they should atleast speed it up for the Slide sections (Like the Sandy one on the Steam Page.)
But then again, it's still in the making, so they might tweak it.
Thankfully, we live in an age where games can be updated post-release, so anything they want to fix can be fixed.
Also, mods, if you have the PC version.

@@germandragon8664 THQ Nordiq seems to be putting a lot of heart and soul into this remake, so here's hoping this will be an exception to that. They've already done a number of helpful and well thought-out revisions to the previous glimpses we've seen of this remake, and they seem to be paying good attention to the fans' feedback so far, so they very clearly care about doing the game justice. Plus, they're going out of their way to add an entire boss fight that was cut from the original game, how cool of them is that?!

@@germandragon8664 Yes, they've confirmed that they're adding that. Although there's no telling how different it may be from what little we got to see, since all we got to see is the concept art. I'm not aware of any of it being leftover in the game's unused files, although I have seen an unfinished alternate version of the second stage fight against Spongebot Steelpants where you actually fight it head on while it has the anchor arms, rather than going inside its head and doing all those puzzle things.
I don’t want this game to be easier, one of the things I loved while playing as a kid was that it was challenging; to make it easier and making the game a breeze to play is just boring to me... even the enemies that I saw in the demo attack slower than they did in the original game

I've been watching bfbb runs for literal years, but thought running it was too daunting. Your tutorial really inspired me, and even if I don't win the Xbox I'm actually going to put in the time I should have years ago. I really appreciate everything you've done for the community
The Horde mode should be like SWO, and have each level be a new floor in Krusty Towers. (Season 4 is still good enough to be included)

Robo Patrick has a Major weakness
Damn, I highkey loved the surreal sunset lighting from when they first released new footage from Jellyfish fields :(
I still think the lighting and renders make the textures a bit flat. I wish the lighting would add more dimension to the forms of the models.

Maybe there should be difficulty settings for the adults coming back? Less accessibility features like the targets and arrows and maybe even the highest difficulties including robots taking more hits and moving faster?
I'm excited to see how they do the Squidward fight for the remake, and how it will tie into the game. Like will there be a secret door that unlocks alongside the final boss? or will it be tied into the story like it was originally intended? It'll be cool to see it realized in 3D. I loved the GBA version of that fight and I'd replay it over and over.

I agree that they should make Sandy playable in her bikini in her dream. Since there is air in her dream, the devs should consider and make SpongeBob wear his water helmet or just use the model of him when he's dried up in Sandy's treedome.

Makoto Itoshi but that’s a short mission. When she’s in her dream, that’s a pretty long time staring as she snowboards with her back to us. I think it’s safe to avoid the backlash and leave it as is.
The sliding in that gif looks very slow compared to the original, I'm confident in this game but I'm hoping some of these little things are fixed, like some platforms seem bigger or smaller sort of randomly and Robot Patrick didn't need target markers.

There should be 2 difficulties, original which has nothing changed for level design and no indicators like for Robo Patrick's goo, and an easier mode which has changes
I highly disagree with making it easier. I put blood, sweat and tears into playing the game as a child; it was awesome. Honestly, it should stay the same difficulty - that’s part of why it was so awesome. I’m not playing only for nostalgia, but also because of how honestly fun this game is for all ages.

Just got a really nice PC and I'm using pcsx2 playing the OG bfbb at 4k and it's so beautiful for being from the early 2000s.
i hope you can toggle those markers for the robo patrick, or they take them out. they look goofy and are unneeded. i played this when i was 6 and never had problems.

While sliding you push the stick forward or backward. Is this also in the original game a thing? I know you can push backward for sliding slower, but I all the time wondered if I just image or it really happens that you become a but faster through pushing forward

Can i just say i watch all of your runs and even casual runs. But its okay i'll let someone else have it has i already played during my childhood days. But i hope they do a 2 disc concept like we can have the original and the new remake. Because i know other remake games has done that so i'm hoping this game will also do it. the only slide I truly hated and probably needs to be expanded a little was the kelp forest slide. Especially the timed challenge. Easily one of the hardest spatulas for me to get was mermaid mans timed spatula challenge
