- This episode covers how to connect the pistons to the conrods, install the pistons and cylinders on the block, and check the deck height. The trickiest part of this process is installing the retaining rings for the wrist pins in the pistons. I highly recommend buying the Stomski Racing Circlip Injector linked below before you start this process!

All other lubricants and silicones are called out in Wayne Dempsey’s book How to Rebuild and Modify 911 Engines: amzn.to/3Aup5Ov (paid link)
glad you are back on. i really enjoy these and hoping to tackle this kind of thing one day. great work!
Thanks! I have a bunch more videos coming!
I've watched several channels on air cooled builds. I found your videos the most engaging and interesting, plus your engineering lessons are also great. I'm just starting my path doing the air-cooled route- but I think I'll need to wait for prices to drop a little more....Look forward to more content!
Thank you for the kind comment! I hope you can get an air-cooled car sometime soon. They are the best! It is also a lot of fun rebuilding the engines. Thanks for watching!
I’m really looking forward to your next video. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!
Congrats and welcome back! Always interesting videos from you.
Thank you very much!
missing your videos man!
I have a lot more coming. I apologize for how long they take me to edit, but I will hustle to get the next one out ASAP!
Thanks again. I’m getting my motor machined and checked at the shop where Dempsey wrote that book! Walt at Competition Engineering. I also have CP pistons. Unfortunately I’m gunna have to split the case now. Bought a 75 wide body race car mostly mostly for a supposedly amazing motor that I’m finding out is not the case. At all. Not even close.
Ugh! Good luck!
I totally understand how a project can take an extended break, good that you were organized enough to pick it back up. And congratulations on the baby. With the spark plug location and high dome piston crowns, would you consider going duel spark?
I considered doing dual spark plugs, but decided against it because of the added cost of machining the heads, new distributor, etc. I also wanted to have the mods to the car reversible if anyone ever wanted to restore it to stock. I chose a 9.8:1 compression ratio because that was the highest I could get away with with single plugs, as advised by William Knight.
