I remember the dance that Stereo Belly from Lees Unlimited kick up Stone Love. I had that cassette because I had an inside link on Lees. He said "when I done wid unnuh Stone Love turn gravel, Cancer turn AIDS, Billy Slaughter turn Billy wid a big mortar, Malcolm X when I lick yuh yuh boss vex." The audio is on Soundcloud. Lees Unlimited is probably the most underrated sound of the 90s.

What the guys don’t seem to understand is that each of them had their own specific talent & gift. That’s what made Stone Love to this day the greatest sound system ever! There was or is no need for competition or comparisons. Each of them had their own unique gift, that’s why when someone left it wasn’t the same, that specific talent & purpose was irreplaceable
Best combination ever on Stone Love in my opinion is Malcolm X playing the tunes and Billy Slaughter on the mic...that was stone love unbeatable team

Malcolm X i know that It was ian that buss capleton because road star is the first sound to play capleton tunes and i ask capleton and he told me that road star is the sound that buss him,and the shirt argument is also known because wee pow said it after your departure from the sound.

Maybe its the selector that did what they were supposed to. As a selector you have to stand out and keep yu thing up at all times.
HOTTA KLAPS SOUND nobody not saying you shouldn’t stand out, as a matter of fact it’s easy for a selector to stand out especially on Stonelove. But I think certain man get greedy and want them own spotlight and when them get it, them don’t shine. The only selector to go solo away from Stonelove and be success is Rory that’s because he’s probably the greatest selector ever. Everybody else is not having the same success

Hey Muscle, I can verify what X said about Cobra. Back in the mid 80s the #1 break dance crew in Jamaica was Magnetic Kiss Crew from Braeton. My aunt lived near where they used to practice. I remember Cobra being a part of the crew. Deejaying came later for him.
Bill Cosby came through and he was on his game listening Cosby Diamond and Slaughter together Stone Love was still on top

Stone love is a great sound and this was an interesting interview. Big up Malcolm X. However, Jaro is the ruling sound for I man.
I remember being at House of Leo listening to Stone Love and was shocked how much man that follow that sound had their hair in drop curls, showing belly skin and wearing all kinds of feminine boots. Jaro is a rude bwoy sound and bring through Early B, Supa Cat (although he recently violated against Yami Bolo) and more.
Furthermore in making sense of the rise of Stone Love, you must also include the impact of drugs money from British link-up. British Link-up hire Stone love a lot. La Rouse over Portmore can stand testimony to that.
Finally. A question. How has dancehall contributed to the much need upliftment of the Black diaspora, especially given where the music is now?

You have to understand these selectors who got lose in time is using Bodyguard as their measuring stick because Bodyguard was the top clash sound in Jamaica back then if you beat Bodyguard your name will call. Example check neco bambam interview. He claimed he killed Bodyguard and stonelove stock went up from 3k to 4K for dances in ja. Bodyguard was the sound traveling the world holding up JA. To be relevant their have to use Bodyguard name. Check history billy slaughter Malcome x nico bambam is not know for anything but juggling. Nobody talking about them nobody rates them. If they have to resort to lying in interviews years late to gain relevances is their only hope let it be. Check the body of work in the sound clash industry during the 90’s Stonelove is not on the list with Bodyguard then came Blackkat then came Bass odyssey. Then Jaro buss back in 95. Bodyguard the first sound to win a World Cup the first sound from country to kill every town sound and rule Jamacian the first country sound to win sound of the year 91 the first sound to start cut nuff dubplates. If you want any form of relevance in soundclash you have to call Bodyguard name.
