Wow, what a fantastic show! 🎥 The Gospel of Nicodemus from the second century is a fascinating nugget you might want to explore too. It's a key source for our belief in the Harrowing of Hell, a fascinating reality that we celebrate on Holy Saturday. Your insights are deep, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this connection!
The Council of Nicea was the formal assembling of the official Bible we all use, including Coptic Church, Armenian - all Apostolic Churches. The Ethiopian Church kept the Shepherd of Hermas, but they also have all the other New Testament texts and the Nicene Creed.
The book of Acts is essentially an extension of Luke's Gospel, so to categorize "better to give than to recieve" as agragha is a misleading word choice. Its more accurate to categorize that saying as distinctively unique in it's way of referencing Jesus' words; very different from agrapha and slightly different from direct quotes. In Luke's case, unless I'm mistaken, all of His dialogue of Jesus is from quoting sources rather than hearing directly for himself; to be fair I don't know if Jesus said those words to Paul or if Paul heard them elsewhere. If I remember correctly, Jesus taught Paul a few things when He met him on the road to Damascus.
St. Dionysius the Aeropagite, the first bishop of Athens, wrote several books and letters which have survived through the millennia. If you like to read ancient Christian thought, his writings are available online.
Question for Jimmy: On Catholic Answers Live and on your TH-cam Channel I have heard you use the Infancy Gospel of James to support Mary’s perpetual virginity. This segment seems to weaken that claim, so could you please share a little bit about the reliability of the theory of Mary’s being a consecrated virgin? Thanks! P.S. I’m loving the new show.
The Other Bible. I found a copy in my building. Old people's apartments. Horrible. Gospel of Mary. Gospel of Judas.Just plain sick that it is actually printed by a major punisher. I'm praying to St Ann now to protect my grandchildren from this world.
Oh please. There are hundreds of Christian sects that reject different aspects of the Bible and call each other heretical, or interpret it VERY differently. Ya’ll cherry pick it to suit your personal beliefs that don’t conform to the Bible (the old and New Testament). not to mention the plethora of other religions on this planet. YOUR opinion is not the be all end all.
YOU ARE A GREAT STORYTELLER !Thanks
Thanks! God bless you!

So much was lost to the ages. But we need to trust God that we get the necessary scripture
