This show always confused me. I watched the Aussie version with Kane and Scotty as the hosts and I KNEW it couldn't be filmed in Australia but one of the defenders was Kook who was an Aussie ABC3 host and I couldn't figure out if they actually had him go all the way to Canada just for the show.

CaptainSwoogety I actually was just showing a friend (who's family is kinda rich af), and he is actually considered getting his family to either A: buy it off the current owner(s), or B: created a replica of it in the states. Either or he wants that done.
It's just so sad and devastating to let a really nice and expensive place like that left to rot..... They should've just sold it or let it out for rent, I think they stopped doing that amazing game-show because they couldn't afford to keep it running or it was getting old for TV and weren't getting enough money after awhile

It's sad really. They didn't even bother to pack up once the show ended preferring to just let the entire set sit and rot. Which is good for me considering I like seeing abandoned places and think of them as a sorta like a time capsule of a different era and time.
We had the Australian one with Scotty and Kane, I miss them ;-; I miss James as well, the old abc 3 team. As kids I loved them and their personality, Amberley, Kayne, Scotty, Ben, James

Tokyo Broadcasting System sued ABC for 'copying' Takeshi's Castle. I think the case was dismissed, but if ABC did sue this show, TBS would be on them instantly.
Yeah, this look like it was packaged for international distribution from the get-go. The hosts were never on the set. They're always somewhere else, never on screen with the contestants. They do their on screen stuff in front of a green screen, and everything is a voice over. Easy to re-record small amounts and package it for different countries/languages...
I remember wanting to compete in splat a lot so badly when I was a kid. I think I was 9 and I looked it up and found out that you had to be 14 in order to compete. I planned on waiting the 5 years until I could go but the show was gone by then. This was trip down memory lane

Tokyo Broadcasting System sued ABC for 'copying' Takeshi's Castle. I think the case was dismissed, but if ABC did sue this show, TBS would be on them instantly.
The show's rights where sold to them, TBS wouldn't sue someone if they sold the rights to them in the first place. I have years in TV broadcast.

Yeah, this look like it was packaged for international distribution from the get-go. The hosts were never on the set. They're always somewhere else, never on screen with the contestants. They do their on screen stuff in front of a green screen, and everything is a voice over. Easy to re-record small amounts and package it for different countries/languages...

MrDeits97 they used a green screen to make it look as tho dick and dom were there. Other presenters used the same method

I remember wanting to compete in splat a lot so badly when I was a kid. I think I was 9 and I looked it up and found out that you had to be 14 in order to compete. I planned on waiting the 5 years until I could go but the show was gone by then. This was trip down memory lane
