Jimmy was a wonderful person and a great musician. Full of joy and enthusiasm. I was blessed to be his friend. He always inspired me when I was in his presence.
That was brilliant. Made my night Jimmy Heath. Your words reflected a true humble enlightened man. Yet human. ( trane, brown, yourself ) I found it inspirational. you
Thanks for recording and posting this. I've loved Jimmy's playing and writing since first discovering him many years ago, thanks to Joe Segal, who hired the Heath Brothers at every opportunity. I bought his book and read it soon after it came out. I enjoyed it a lot, as well Randy Weston's book. Randy's been one of my favorite players writers too, since I recorded him for NPR in the '70s.
Another spectacular video, thank you so much for what you do! Meeting people who walked with he greats is something else...I met Hank Jones a few years back, so glad I had the chance while he was still with us. I'll forget it!
Speaking of humble persons with great talent, of course someone else would have to claim that for him. He was very kind and patient even with total strangers. RIP.

@ESmithStringSlinger He is a true giant, in this music, and in life.
So great that folks, including the musicians themselves, are documenting the lives and careers of giants like Jimmy, Sonny Rollins, Art Taylor.
I Walked with Giants is a great read. So many stories.
Jimmy was a giant, as well.
Such a sweet soul
