El Jimador was my first go-to tequila for years before I started get serious with tequila.

It's a gateway drug for sure! but now drinking it after drinking so many high quality tequilas, it's hard to swallow

That particular brand of tequila is cooked using the so-called "Acid-Thermal Hydrolysis" technique (looked it up at the tequilamatchmaker) which I think is responsible for the acetonic sharp smell. They're playing it fair by not resorting to the mixto tactics but then they're blowing it badly.

Cant knock it on price point great for mixing certainly not a fortaleza Blanco and I would drink that over Jose Cuervo all day long.

In Canada it is 40% abv but it is not any better quality wise. I understand that context means a lot, so, I have some sympathy for you knowing that you have educated tastes. I used to actually like it but then I branched out and only go back when nothing else is available.
One will even drink a mixto in desperate circumstances.

Your empathy is truly appreciated! It's been rough out here for us and our palate. When I travel I look forward to bringing back the goods and educating people on what good agave should be. Cheers and wishing you great tequila!

We have access to a lot of rum! haha Seriously though, the agave spirits are few and far between if any
